Key Points

  • The goals of a missionary are to experience God’s existence and the reality of the spirit world. As a missionary you need to know who True Parents are and discover who you are.

  • CIG: “C” means “Challenging and overcoming.” “I” means “Inspire God, people and yourself.” “G” means “Gratitude in any situation.”

  • The period of about eighty years from the end of the First World War to the year 2000, when the Lord of the Second Advent was on earth, was a time of the greatest sacrifice and indemnity in human history, including World War 1 and World War 2. This was because the Lord of the Second came and the True Parents of humanity were born and worked to build Cheon Il Guk.

  • Before 2000 was the age of indemnity and the era before the coming of heaven; after 2,000 was the era after the coming of heaven for the realization of Cheon Il Guk, God’s nation.

  • The goals of religion are, first, to teach human beings how to unite mind and body and then train them to do so and, secondly, to teach us that God is our parent and our living and working God.

  • Faith is acquired through experience.

  • Faith is ultimately about creating an unforgettable, affectionate relationship with God. When we, as children, know the pitiful heart of God and call him our father and comfort him, unstoppable love flows.

  • When the heart of parents toward their children seeps into the bones of the child, and when love and filial piety of the children toward their parents seeps into the bones of their parents, that is supreme happiness.

  • The purpose of performing rituals is to know where God’s will, wishes, and heart are and to establish a heartistic relationship with Heaven and find truth there. We need to know God's circumstances, will, and wishes and perform rituals based on God's heart.

  • The prayer life of the past focused on telling God about one's circumstances and wishes and hoping He would listen. However, the life of prayer in this era of Cheon Il Guk should be focused on comforting and consoling God’s heart and making His wishes come true.

  • Religious rituals must connect Heavenly Parent’s circumstances, wishes, and worries to our life, and, more importantly according to Father, they are for us to become people whom others can bow to.

  • Our life of faith must bear fruit in our lives. We need to balance our life and responsibilities at home and at work with those of our faith.

Transcripts from November 3, 2021 to the present, personal notes from November 11, 2020 until November 2, 2021 and slides from August 29, 2021 to the present are available at MD.Hoondok.com as PDF files.

(Response to sharing) God is our home. All humankind needs to go back to our home and to our Heavenly Parent. Father clearly told me personally that the main purpose of character education is to teach God’s heart (and) not just (teach in) a humanistic way. Of course, when we approach schools, it is a different story, but I think when you teach people, the main purpose is to teach God’s heart. We need to teach them that God is our home.♦

I love you all!

Yesterday, President Naokimi and I went to East Garden to meet 24 Cheon Il Guk missionaries.

They will fly to Albania today and spend 6 weeks of witnessing training then fly to their mission countries for 7 months.

Five representatives shared their testimonies regarding the motivation to become missionaries. After that, all the missionaries took turns sharing about why they decided to become missionaries.

The testimonies were very beautiful. It reminded me of my life when I was young. I am really inspired to hear their testimonies.

Then, President Naokimi gave a brief speech regarding the missionary work.

I shared with them regarding the importance of knowing Heavenly Parent. I said, “If you become a missionary, what should your internal motivation be? What should you focus on? What are your goals as a missionary? Number one, you need to really experience God’s existence. He is a reality. You need to experience that he is alive. This is the most important thing.” Second, I tell them that the spiritual world is really a reality. When you try to witness to people, you need to experience how the spiritual world and your ancestors are helping you. If you know the reality of the spiritual world, I think you can have an incredible, life-changing experience. Thirdly, you need to know who True Parents are. Through witnessing you can have a close relationship with True Parents. Number four, you need to discover who you are. I emphasize this again and again. (I told them) I hoped they could all have a good experience in their mission field.

We took a beautiful group photo.

Thank you Michael McDevitt and all the kitchen staff who were really helping.

Everyone, please pray a lot for our Cheon Il Guk missionaries. “C” means “Challenging and overcoming.” “I” means “Inspire God, people and yourself.” “G” means “Gratitude in any situation.” Yesterday I guided them and was so excited to see each one of them. I hope everybody will be healthy and strong and will have an incredible experience. After they finish all their experiences, we are going to see them in Korea.

Today I’d like to talk about “Women Will Play a Leading Role in the Ideal World” from True Mother’s Anthology, Book 2.

<This speech was given at Women's Federation for World Peace rallies held between June 10 and June 30, 1992 in 40 cities, counties and districts throughout Korea> According to the Unification Principle, all religious believers uphold the ideal of the Second Advent of their founder. The second advent of Maitreya Buddha, the True Man, and the New Confucius, as well as the Second Coming of Jesus are all realized through the second coming of the one Messiah, the True Parent of humanity, and through that one Messiah all religions, also, are bound to become unified. However, the Messiah and True Parent who comes again is not Jesus himself. Jesus died 2,000 years ago; he will not come again, riding in the sky on the clouds. Rather, a new person who has inherited the mission of Jesus will be born on this earth. Though it may be astonishing, the Messiah who is the True Parent of humanity will be born in Asia, in the nation of Korea.

Then when will the Messiah come? According to the Unification Principle, the time when this sinful world is brought to an end is the Last Days, and the Messiah of the Second Advent is supposed to come in the Last Days. The Last Days correspond to the period of about eighty years from the end of the First World War to the year 2000. This period corresponds to the transition period of world history in which the Lord of the Second Coming and the True Parents of humanity will be born in this land of Korea. The Last Days are a time when the world filled with sin, war and conflict will be transformed into the ideal world of goodness overflowing with freedom and peace.

The period of about eighty years from the end of the First World War to the year 2000, when the Lord of the Second Advent was on earth, was a time of the greatest sacrifice and indemnity in human history, including World War 1 and World War 2.

Between the years 1900 (nineteen hundred) and 2000 (two thousand), about 150 million people were killed in war and the number of deaths from diseases was about 1.7 billion, not million, billion. Can you imagine that?

Sacrifice follows because this period corresponds to the transition period of world history in which the Lord of the Second Coming and the True Parents of humanity will be born in this land of Korea and build this world full of sins, wars, and struggles into a good, ideal world full of freedom and peace

Wow! In the last 6,000 years of God’s history, this is the most critical moment, an incredible transitional time period. It required a lot of sacrifice. Can you imagine how many people died! It changed the world from the Satanic world to God’s world.

Before the year 2000, it was the age of indemnity and the era before the coming of heaven, and from 2,000 onwards, the era after the coming of heaven for the realization of Cheon Il Guk, God’s nation, officially arrived.

LIVING DIVINE PRINCIPLE: The Principle of Creation 66 – The Human Heart as Viewed through the Spiritual and Physical Minds

• The relationship between the spirit mind and the physical mind is like that between internal nature and external form. When they become one through give and take action with God as their center, they form a united functioning entity which guides the spirit self and physical self to become harmonious and progress toward the purpose of creation. This united entity is the mind of a human being.

• The conscience is that faculty of the human mind which, by virtue of its inborn nature, always directs us toward what we think is good.

• However, as the standard of goodness in fallen human beings varies, the standard of their conscience also fluctuates; this causes frequent contention even among those who advocate a conscientious life.

• The original mind is that faculty of the human mind which pursues absolute goodness. The original mind relates to the conscience as internal nature to external form.

• A person's conscience directs him to pursue goodness according to the standard he has set up in ignorance, even though it may differ from the original standard. However, the original mind repels this faulty standard and works to correct the conscience.

• As long as our spirit mind and physical mind are under the bondage of Satan, the functioning entity they form through their give and take action is called the evil mind. The evil mind continually drives people to do evil.

• Our original mind and conscience direct us to repel the evil mind. They guide us in desperate efforts to reject evil desires and cling to goodness by breaking our ties with Satan and turning to face God.

Based on this let’s study Father’s word.

The Goal of Religion

<23-125> Religion is the basis upon which God can build the ideal world and heaven. Religions teach only one thing: God. They teach you how to love God. These words may seem groundless and even absurd, but the original mind of man seeks God, who created humankind and the universe. Religion must teach the original principle of God. Until now, there has been no teaching greater than that of Jesus. The Chinese character in “religion” means “Heaven.” Religion must become the teaching that is comparable to the central beam of a house. Is there anything else that teaches you about the love of God? Where can you go that will teach you about the ideal?

If we put together everything True Parents have spoken about the goals of religion: First, he said that religion teaches human beings how to unite mind and body and then trains them to do so. Secondly, religion clearly teaches us about what kind of being God is

The reason all churches are declining today is because they have been failing to fulfill their original missions. Even though religion should be training people to dominate the body, they actually end up resembling the secular world and are being secularized.

Rather, looking at the reality that religion is becoming a hotbed of evil, righteous and good people are lamenting the reality of religion today, as you know.

The next goal for religion is to be a place where people can come to know God and experience the living and working God. Religion must clearly teach that God is humankind’s vertical parent and that the relationship between God and man is that of parent and child

I clearly told our Cheon Il Guk missionaries that the most important thing in our life of faith is that we need know God and his guidelines, that he is our love and our home. This is the most important thing. Our original mind is always seeking for that. We need to go back to God’s home.

Religion today fails to show in the church that God is a living and working God. Faith is acquired through experience. If we do not create individuals, families, and churches where God lives and works, religion will fail to fulfill its mission, and eventually we will stumble.

I am not just talking about existing Christianity and other religions, but (also) our Unification Movement. We need to think about this. What kind of main education (do we offer) for people? Are we really showing that God is a living God in our church? That he is really alive? Can anyone who comes to our church feel that? Can anyone who comes to my family feel that God is a living God? That he is really working? This is an important point. Our original mind is always seeking for God.

The Goal of the Original Mind

<23-129> The basis of the universe is the parent-child relationship. If this is the case, even if we were to ask ten million people where their original mind is heading, they would all answer that it is heading towards the place where they can capture God’s love. Even if a parent were to have ten sons, there would be no difference between the parents’ love for each child. When all people are able to unite their hearts with their actions and call God their father, their hearts of love for their pitiful father will come pouring out. What is the point in being rich? When the love of the parents seeps into the bones of the child, this is supreme happiness, the epicenter of the heart of man. Humankind today needs to realize this.

Very beautiful words!

The path that our original mind demands is establishing a relationship with God. The goal of making God mine is the path that our original mind demands. Faith is ultimately about creating an unforgettable, affectionate relationship between God and me.

And the way your original mind goes is to occupy the love of God. When we, as children, know the pitiful heart of God and call him our father and comfort him, unstoppable love flows and strength comes from it.

When the heart of parents toward their children seeps into the bones of the child, and when love and filial piety toward their parents seeps into the bones of their parents, that is supreme happiness as True Mother just said. This is the path that the original mind demands.

TODAY’S YOUTH MINISTRY: The True Purpose of Performing Rituals

The Difference Between Conscious-ness and Lifestyle of the Old Age and the Age of Love

1. In traditional religions, rituals were the most important, and believers led a life of subjugating themselves. However, the problem is that the rituals of existing religions are not ceremonies that were done knowing God's will, wishes, and heart, but rather to keep traditions formally and externally for the sake of the ritual itself, which is far from its originl meaning. The purpose of performing a ritual is to establish a heartistic relationship with Heaven and find truth there, but we focused on keeping the ritual itself. As a result, we misunderstood that it was for God's will and stayed in that format. However, we need to know God's circumstances, will, and desires and perform rituals based on His heart to create genuinely true rituals.

What is the purpose of performing rituals? What is the reason God established religion and emphasized rituals? It is to know where God’s will, wishes, and heart are.

However, since existing religions simply perform rituals to follow tradition regardless of God's will, wishes, and feelings, they remain at the level of formality and habit and are far from their original meaning.

The purpose of performing a ritual is to establish a heartistic relationship with Heaven and find truth there. However, all religions misunderstand that observing all such rituals is for the sake of God’s will.

The problem, however, is that such habitual and formal traditional rituals eventually led to the rejection of Jesus by the Jewish people who did not open their hearts when Jesus came as the Lord.

This is an issue. Whenever we focus just on external and habitual and formal tradition and rituals, we do not know how to use our heart. Then we become a hypocrite. We cannot recognize who is chosen by God. That is why habitual, external, traditional rituals are sometimes very dangerous (if we do not) use our heart.

Then what is the purpose of habitual and formal rituals? How to open our hearts.

Therefore, we need to understand that we need to know God's circumstances, will, and wishes and perform the rituals based on God's heart. The Kingdom of Heaven is based on God’s heart. That’s why a ritual (must be) based on God’s heart in order for it to become a genuine and true ritual.

The Difference Between (the) Consciousness and Lifestyle of the Old Age and (that of) the Age of Love

2. The prayer life of the past focused on telling God about one's circumstances and wishes and hoping He would listen. But now, our prayers must first confirm who we have a relationship with. Next, our prayers and jeongseong should comfort God's heart and make His wishes come true. When we sing songs of praise, we must sing while connecting with God's circumstances and heart. Therefore, our life of faith must be a life that connects Heavenly Parent’s circumstances, wishes, and worries to my life. Knowing your parents' wishes, worries, and sorrows, you have to overcome the environment with the foundation of sincere devotion to liberate them. If there is a person who spontaneously fools around with external circumstances, then he is a person who lives disregarding his parents.

The prayer life of the past focused on telling God about one's circumstances and wishes and hoping He would listen. However, the life of prayer in this era of Cheon Il Guk should be focused on comforting and consoling God’s heart and making His wishes come true

When we sing songs of praise, we must sing while connecting with God's circumstances and heart. Since singing songs of praise or reciting the Family Pledge without heart has nothing to do with my spirit; it is just a waste of time.

We recite Family Pledge every morning and bow down to Heavenly Parent and True Parents, right? Why do we go through such rituals? Not only (to do them) formally, habitually, traditionally. (Are) you really use your heart? Are you really putting your heart (into it)? Just reciting them habitually and formally without contacting God’s heart, we can easily become external and hypocritical. It is just a waste of time.

I have been struggling about how I can put more heart (into) reciting the Family Pledge every morning. I want to put my heart there.... Family Pledge (can) stimulate our heart all the time... When I bow down to Heavenly Parent and True Parents, do I have a heart of full respect or not? (Am I) just bowing? Without putting our heart (into it, it is) nothing. Just a noisy gong. We are just wasting our time.

Therefore, all religious rituals must connect Heavenly Parent’s circumstances, wishes, and worries to my life. Knowing your parents' wishes, worries, and sorrows, you have to lay the foundation of sincerity to liberate them.

That’s why when you do some kind of ritual ceremony, just bowing externally and (simply mouthing) Family Pledge, you (will) treat people only in an external way. It will be difficult (for you) to open your heart.

That’s why (in) ritual ceremony (it) is very important how to (stimulate) and open my heart, how to connect with God centering on heart. That is the purpose of ritual ceremonies. This is an important pont.

Why Our Rituals Remain Only in Form

3. We have to connect our minds through rituals and connect them to our lives, but we only look good outwardly because we do rituals that have nothing to do with our hearts or our lives. That is why when Jesus saw the Jewish scribes and priests, he called them people who repeat things, whitewashed tombs, and a brood of vipers. All rituals are aimed at evoking our hearts and forming a deeper connection with God. If you do not improve, experience rebirth, or become devout through rituals, it will end up as a formal external ceremony. Why do you greet each other? Greetings are not for the person being greeted. Greetings are a sign that I have a relationship with him, and it shows that I will respect and love him more through our relationship. It is also to further solidify my center with the other person. Morning Pledge service is meant to express respect for True Parents, but more importantly, it is for us to become people whom others can bow to.

We do many kinds of ceremonies, right? The Blessing Ceremony, the Three-Day Ceremony, all kinds of ceremonies, every morning the Family Pledge ceremony. Especially sometimes the Blessing Ceremony is too external, too conditional. The environment is not there. I worry if we just focus on such an external way, we (will) not know how to (stimulate) our heart, how to have it well up. Then anyone can become a hypocrite. Without putting our heart into doing something, we just become external and hypocritical at any time. Jesus criticized the Jewish people (for this), but the same applies to us.

If we perform rituals that have nothing to do with our hearts or our lives, we will be judged as people who repeat things, whitewashed tombs, and a brood of vipers like the Jewish scribes and priests of Jesus' day.

All rituals are aimed at evoking our hearts and forming a deeper heartistic connection with God. If you do not improve, experience rebirth, or become devout through rituals, it will end up as a formal external ceremony.

For example, morning pledge service is meant to express respect for True Parents. We bow full of respect and (with) heart. But Father said more importantly, it is for us to become people whom others can bow to.

Do we bow to Heavenly Parent and True Parents with our full heart? I should use this same method, attitude and heart toward my father and mother, my wife, my husband, my children, my teacher, my Abel and my neighbors. The content of the heart is the most essential part.

The Time Period of Needing Rituals

4. We can't call our parents by name and can’t act as their children. When a child who cannot be proud calls out their parents by name, they feel shame rather than delight. From what I have experienced so far, those who diligently do early morning prayers and mountain prayers are not good at household chores. And those who frequented the prayer room were not good at private life. A good ritual alone does not make God's name holy. It is necessary to maintain one’s hygiene, set a good example in one’s personal life, and do household chores well, so that we can be proud before God. Rituals are only needed until you have a clear vertical relationship with God. Next, based on a clear relationship with God, we must live according to His circumstances, heart and desires.

Our faith life must bear fruit in our lives. To do so, I must faithfully carry out my responsibilities in my given life and reality without any gaps.

If you are living a life of faith and doing church work, but are neglectful or not faithful in household chores in your own family, you will be branded as a hypocrite. More than praying and devoting yourself to church, you should do household chores well and set a good example at work. Then I can boast of my life of God.

What we need to be clear about is that the purpose of performing rituals is to lift our hearts and build a deeper heartistic relationship with God.
