  • God’s Words to Adam and Eve, “Do not eat” meant for them to absolutely unite with God’s Word. In other words, “Do not do as you please.”

  • Our 1% responsibility is to live by the creed “I am God’s.”

  • God’s creation, including our mind and body, was created nearly 100% all by Himself without the help of human beings.

  • If human beings fulfill their 1% portion of responsibility, God says that He will take responsibility for the rest of our course of eternal life.

  • If human beings fulfill their 1% portion of responsibility and obey God’s Word, “the course we will walk will be smooth and easy, but if we act as we please, we will be isolated from God, the path ahead will be dark, and the means to live will be vague.”

Happy Easter to you and your family.

What is Easter? Easter is one of the most important holy days of Christianity. It honors Jesus who rose from the dead three days after being crucified. Along with the birth of Christ, Easter is one of the most important celebrations in the Christian calendar.

It is a time when Christians praise and give thanks for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. After being crucified, dying and being buried, Christ rose from the tomb three days later. By doing so, he overcame death.

Today is a really important day. I hope you all have a meaningful time.

Yesterday, I came to Minnesota. It looks like “mind center,” or “minister.”

I had a breakfast meeting with the witnessing group of the Minnesota Family Church.

I think Rev. Ha knows how to do teamwork. All the staff and members respect Rev. Ha. I think he manages very well. I have heard each of their reports; I can feel a beautiful unity and teamwork together. Teamwork is the key. Now is the era of the one man church(?) is already over. (The issue is) how to work together as a team.

Then, we had launched “Interfaith Hmong Family and Holy Community” at the Minnesota Family Church. We invited faith leaders and families to educate True Family Values and True Love that go beyond the religions.

I gave a message on the title of “Attribute of True Love,” and we took a group photo.

Then, we had Q & A session with church key leaders and members at the Minnesota Family Church and (we also took a) group photo.

Today I’d like to talk about “God's Ideal Family and the Kingdom of the Peaceful Ideal World I” from True Mother’s Anthology, Book 2.

<This speech was given by Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon between October 3 and October 14, 2005 during a speaking tour in Japan to mark the launch of the Universal Peace Federation.>

Today we are participating in the inauguration of the Universal Peace Federation. It represents God's victory, the fruit of the True Parents' blood, sweat and tears, and the world's cherished hope. It will carry out the role of an Abel-type UN in relation to the existing United Nations for building Cheon Il Guk. Think of the peacekeeping role of the United Nations in the past. Sometimes it withdrew its forces before their mission was completed. The Korean War is a good example. Under the banner of the Universal Peace Federation, we will serve as Peace Kingdom Police Force and a Peace Kingdom Corps to safeguard global peace.

For the sake of humanity's future, I hope that you will put on new true love armor in this new age and be wise and brave activists in this worldwide peace force. Please inscribe this warning from Heaven deep in your hearts. Remember that the only way to inherit Heaven's lineage and establish the realm of liberation and complete freedom is through the marriage Blessing established by the True Parents. Moreover, the marriage Blessing provides the means to establish God’s ideal family and everlasting world peace. In closing, I ask you to devote your best efforts for the development and success of the Universal Peace Federation. Thank you.

The Universal Peace Federation represents God's victory, the fruit of the True Parents' blood, sweat and tears, and the world's cherished hope. It will carry out the role of an Abel-type UN in relation to the existing Cain-type United Nations for building Cheon Il Guk.

Under the banner of the Universal Peace Federation, we will serve as a Peace Kingdom Police Force and a Peace Kingdom Corps to safeguard global peace.

For the sake of humanity's future, True Mother hopes that we will put on new true love armor in this new age and be wise and brave activists in this worldwide peace force.

We should inscribe this warning from Heaven deep in our hearts and remember that the only way to inherit Heaven's lineage and permanently establish the ideal family that God has hoped for all this time is through the marriage Blessing established by the True Parents.

Now, if Family Federation in the role of the parent UN, UPF in the role of the Abel UN, WFWP in the role of the Abel women’s UN, and YSP in the role of the children’s UN each fulfill their roles, then world peace will surely come about. Now, what remains for these 4 organizations is their role to completely unite, expand what could not be fulfilled in Adam’s family to the world level, and build world peace, which the existing UN has failed to accomplish.

LIVING DIVINE PRINCIPLE: Chapter 3 Eschatology 4 - The Providence of Salvation

God’s Work of Salvation

God intended to create a world of goodness and experience from it the utmost joy; yet due to the human Fall, the world came to be filled with with and sorrow.

If this sinful world were to continue forever in its present state, then God would be an impotent and ineffectual God who failed in His creation. Therefore, God will save this sinful world, by all means.

To save a person suffering under the yoke of sin means to restore him to his original, sinless state.

Thus, God's work of salvation is the providence of restoration.

The words that the providence of salvation is the providence of restoration mean returning to the bosom of God, that is to say, returning to the world of God’s heart.

The human Fall was undoubtedly the result of human mistakes. Nevertheless, God also assumes some responsibility for the outcome because it was He who created human beings.

God, the eternal subject partner, created us to live eternally because He wanted to share eternal joy with human beings as His object partners.

“The Human Fall was undoubtedly the result of human mistakes. Nevertheless, God also assumes some responsibility for the outcome because it was He who created human beings.”

Parents undertake the responsibility for their children’s mistakes as if those are their own mistakes.

God tries to eternally take responsibility for us. God did not only judge Adam and Eve’s fall, He also wanted to take responsibility for it forever. True Parents also try to eternally take responsibility for all blessed families blessed in their names, as well as for humankind.

God created human beings, right? As the creator he wanted to be responsible, even though Adam and Eve made a mistake. The heart of the parent is to be responsible.

The three great qualities of a leader:

We need to inherit this from God. He has these three great qualities.

 1) Take responsibility for object partners under any circumstances.

The great point about God is that even though the fall was due to Adam and Eve’s mistake, as the creator he takes responsibility for it eternally and (works to) restore it.

The main quality of a slave is that he wants to run away. He doesn’t want to be responsible, but the heart of the parent, of the owner, is that he always wants to be responsible for it no matter what. Even though a child has made a mistake, the parent wants to be responsible for it.

 2) Protect them in any situation.

Secondly, He tries to protect us eternally. When children are faced with a dangerous situation, parents will try to save their children first, even if they have to sacrifice themselves. If it is for the sake of our children, would we be able to run at any time, not caring about any sacrifice, even death?

 3) Continuously nurture them through education.

God eternally educates us through our conscience until we are perfected. Think about all the pain and sacrifice Heaven must suffer until we reach perfection.

Do I have these kinds of qualities as a leader, as a continental director? What is the first quality? No matter what, I want to be responsible for the object partner – not just for my children or family. As the continental director any mistake, even ancestors’ mistake, even our members’ mistakes, am I ready to be responsible for everything, no matter what, at the risk of my life? Wow! I can’t just blame American brothers and sisters.

We can’t only blame our own children. With a parental heart we have to be responsible.

Because God has a responsible heart, he can save human beings.

Secondly, (I need to) protect them. Parents want to protect their children in any situation at the risk of their life. Do I have the heart to protect American brothers and sisters in any dangerous or difficult situation as the continental director? I want to go to the front line more than any American members in order to protect them. Do I have that kind of quality?

This is very important as a leader. Perhaps the leader blames them, criticizes them – “Oh, America is very much a muddy(?) horizontal culture, this and that...” Anyone can criticize. Especially Koreans can criticize Americans as “very horizontal. There is no alignment.” It is easy to criticize, but does one have the heart of protection? I always reflect on myself. (Am I willing to) risk my life?

Heungjin nim risked his life to protect True Father and True Mother. Do I have that kind of filial heart to protect True Father and True Mother no matter what? As a son in any situation can we protect True Mother and protect her leadership? How can we run away from parents(?)? It is easy to criticize True Mother’s leadership (for) this and that. ... (If we do,) we are not a filial son or daughter. As a filial son and daughter do we want to protect True Parents no matter what? Do we have that kind of quality?

As a leader do we continuously nurture (our members) through education?

As soon as Adam and Eve fell, God tried to restore them and continuously knocked on their heart: “Please wake up. Please come back.” Wow! (He asked them) every second, every minute (for) their whole life and even in the spiritual world.

He knocks (at the heart) of each human being, asks him to come back and continuously nurtures him (with) education through his conscience. God never gives up. Everybody surrenders(?) (before) God because he nurtures us through our conscience. God uses Dr. Yong to raise American brothers and sisters. I just want to be the equipment of Heavenly Parent. Sometimes God uses hoondokhae material, Divine Principle or Jeongseong Gyeong or Pyeonghwa Gyeong or leadership or Morning Devotion. He always tries to nurture us, to raise us. He uses the continental director, national leader, the central figure, Abel or our conscience. He (invests) his effort in many ways.

Let’s remember the great qualities of a leader.

In the same way, God also has taken responsibility for the human fall and has protected human beings and has educated us through our original mind.

God is the eternal subject partner. Hence, we, as His children who are the object partners that give joy to God, must be eternal.

God is the eternal subject (partner), so his children need to be eternal object (partners) as well. This is the relationship of parent and child. If only the parent is the eternal subject and his children are not eternal objects, something is wrong, right? That is why as long as God is eternal, his children have to be eternal. As long as God is absolute, his children should be absolute object partners. No religion teaches us in such a way.

TODAY’S YOUTH MINISTRY: The Meaning of Human Beings’ 1% Portion of Responsibility

Of course, the Divine Principle talks about 5% portion of responsibility. Why here do I put 1%? portion of responsibility? It means God is doing everything. Do not misunderstand. Originally it was 5% responsibility. Why did I put here 1%? Because God is actually doing everything. That is why I put 1% portion of responsibility here. Let’s study.

Serve Heaven with the Heart of the Owner of CIG

1. The Era of Cheon Il Guk is when we members serve God and True Parents with the heart of the owners of Cheon Il Guk. God’s Words to Adam and Eve, “do not eat” meant for them to absolutely unite with God’s Word. These Words meant to absolutely serve God with the heart of hyojeong and not be dominated by the horizontal environment. Simply, it meant “do not do as you please.” It means that if Adam and Eve did not do as they pleased but listened to God’s Word, God would do 99% for them. That is why God’s wish for Adam and Eve was “you both just need to properly fulfill your roles as My children. You are not ‘you’ but My son and daughter who must realize my wish.” These were the words of commandments that God had promised to them. Because of that, human beings’ responsibility is just 1%. What is that 1%? “I am God’s.” We are to keep this creed. Then, God will take responsibility for the other 99%.

Human Beings’ Portion of Responsibility Is to Just Absolutely Obey God’s Word

2. The Divine Principle talks about 5% portion of responsibility, but in fact, compared to the great God’s creation, human beings’ portion of responsibility is very small, so we expressed it as 1%. Of course, even though 1% or 5% is very small, from human being’s standpoint, it is very big. Just look at the scale of God creating man and all creation. It is unimaginable by the human mind. God’s creation was created nearly 100% all by Himself without the help of human beings. This means that human being’s responsibility is simply to not assert themselves but absolutely obey God’s Word. Look at yourselves. There is not even 1% that you can do as you please. Can you act as you please? Can your body do as it pleases? Can you live without breathing? Can you live without eating? Actually, there is nothing that we human beings can do on our own as we please.

God’s Work, Creation, and a Farmer’s Responsibility

3. When looking at the structure of your mind and body, there is nothing you can do. Everything is done by God. There is nothing we can claim as our own. Human beings have struggled to realize this so far because we fell. The Fall was betraying God, beginning to act as one pleases, and becoming Satan’s lineage. We need to realize this. Think about whether farming is easy or difficult. When spring comes, sowing the seeds is the farmer’s 1% portion of responsibility that he must fulfill. The farmer’s responsibility is to sows the seeds without missing the right time. If the farmer plants the seeds, making the seeds sprout, take root, grow, bloom flowers, and bear fruit is done by God. Who does more work? Compared to the work God does, human beings hardly have any work.

Human Being’s 1% Responsibility Is To “Not Do As You Please”

4. If the farmer just sows the seeds in time and cultivates them a little, who makes the buds sprout? Who makes leaves come out from the seeds? Who makes those seeds grow? Who can make flowers bloom? The work the farmer does is almost nothing compared to God. What is the difference between a farmer farming and human beings’ portion of responsibility? The Divine Principle says that human beings have a 5% portion of responsibility, but we can say that the work human beings do is actually closer to 1%. God does 99% of everything. Then what is human beings’ 1% portion of responsibility? That is to “not do as you please.” If human beings fulfill this 1% portion of responsibility, God says that He will take responsibility for the rest of the course of eternal life. After human beings have perfected themselves, God will provide everything they need for the rest of the course of eternal life.

The Meaning of Human Beings’ 1% Portion of Responsibility

5. If human beings obey God’s Word, the course we will walk will be smooth and easy throughout, but if we act as we please, we will be completely isolated from God, the path ahead will be dark, and the means to live will be vague. Do you actually feel this? Therefore, we must fulfill our 1% responsibility well. Human beings’ 1% portion of responsibility is to not be self-centered but live according to God’s will. What is the 1% of the Will that is bestowed to human beings? This Will is the seed. This seed is to live, carrying God’s wish. Therefore, we need to live cherishing God’s wish in our hearts. That is why Gpd tells human beings, “you were born on this earth with my wish.” Human beings are the substantial beings of God’s wish. Human beings, who were born with God’s wish, cannot have self-centeredness. Not even 1%. There is nothing other than “you are Me, I am you.”

I want to summarize again the meaning of the human 1% portion of responsibility.

1. God’s Words to Adam and Eve, “do not eat” meant for them to absolutely unite with God’s Word.

If Adam and Eve had really united with God’s word, then the rest God would have done. They just had to obey. Absolute obedience meant they should have united with God. We should not insist on our own self, but just unite with God, just “Yes!,” absolutely obedient because we are resultant beings. We are not causal beings. We were born with the wish of God. That is why we should follow. If we are the creator, then we can create something, but we are not the creator. Of course, we are the second creator. We need to unite with God.

2. “Do not do as you please” meant that if Adam and Eve did not do as they pleased but listened to God’s Word, God would have done 99% for them.

If Adam and Eve had not listened to the archangel‘s temptation, but had just obeyed God’s word, were united with it centered on a filial heart, were just obedient and had no horizontal relationship with the archangel, then God would have done 99% for them.

3. God wished for Adam and Eve, “You both just need to properly fulfill your roles as My children. You are not ‘you’ but My son and daughter who must realize my wish.”

4. Because of that, human beings’ responsibility is just 1%. What is that 1%? “I am God’s.” “I belong to God.” We are to keep this creed. Then, God will take responsibility for the other 99%.

That is why this life of faith begins from our treating ourself as God’s belonging. “I belong to God.” Then we have faith. This is faith: “I belong to God. That is my 1% portion of responsibility. I believe in God and treat myself as God’s.” Then 99% God will do everything. That is why faith is very important. “I am not mine. I belong to God.” If we have absolute faith and treat ourself as God’s belonging – “My nose, ears, mouth, hand, sexual organs belong to God” – if we treat ourself as God’s belonging, then God will do all the rest. That’s why faith begins with what? “I treat myself as God’s belonging.” That is our 1% portion of responsibility.

5. God’s creation was created nearly 100% all by Himself without the help of human beings. This means that human being’s responsibility is simply to not assert themselves but absolutely obey God’s Word.

God created the sun and the moon, the ocean, the stars. Can you count how many stars? He created everything, almost 100%. Compared to God’s work, our responsibility is almost nothing. Then what is the 1% portion of responsibility? ...

6. There is not even 1% that we can do as we please. Can we act as we please? Can our body do as it pleases? Can we live without breathing? Can we live without eating?

Everything is provided by God. If God did not provide air, all humankind would die in five minutes. We cannot do anything without God. If God did not provide any food, everybody would die. What can we do actually? God does everything, almost everything, almost 100%.

What is our 1%? Be obedient, unite with God, treat ourself as God’s belonging. Adam and Eve did not have this mindset.

7. When looking at the structure of our mind and body, there is nothing we can do. Everything is done by God. There is nothing we can claim as our own.

Who takes care of all the stars? Human beings have never been there, right? Each corner, each star, each tree, each plant, each fish – who takes care of them? God is an incredible being. He is the ones who takes care of everything, all items of the cosmos.

8. When spring comes, sowing the seeds is the farmer’s 1% portion of responsibility that he must fulfill. The farmer’s responsibility is to sows the seeds without missing the right time.

The farmer’s (responsibility?) is very simple. When the right time comes, spring comes, he sows the seeds.

If the farmer plants the seeds, making the seeds sprout, take root, grow, bloom flowers, and bear fruit is done by God. God does everything. Compared to the work God does, human beings hardly have any work.

9. If the farmer just sows the seeds in time and cultivates them a little, who makes the buds sprout? Who makes leaves come out from the seeds? Who makes those seeds grow? Who can make flowers bloom? The work the farmer does is almost nothing compared to God.

We need to really appreciate how much God does. Who takes care of eight billion people. He takes care of each of them plus all those who have passed away. What is the size of God’s heart. I cannot imagine. We call him, “He is my daddy, father.”

10. Even in farming, the work human beings do is actually closer to 1%. God does 99% of everything. Then what is human beings’ 1% portion of responsibility? That is to “not do as you please.”

That is why we should not do anything centered on ourself. We should treat ourself as God’s belonging. The fall is doing everything as we please.

11. If human beings fulfill their 1% portion of responsibility, God says that He will take responsibility for the rest of the course of eternal life. If human beings fulfill their 1% portion of responsibility, God will do everything else for the rest of the course of eternal life.

That is why we are actually nothing in terms of our portion of responsibility. Of course, human value is amazing, but in terms of the work, we are almost nothing.

12. If human beings obey God’s Word, the course we will walk will be smooth and easy throughout, but if we act as we please, we will be completely isolated from God, the path ahead will be dark, and the means to live will be vague. Therefore, we are to fulfill our 1% responsibility of absolutely obeying God’s Word.

... We are nothing. However, if we unite with God’s word, wow! We are incredible! God will put us in the same position as he is, as the second creator. “You are my eternal object partner.” (We have such a) blessing. It is truly amazing, right?

Today we spoke about the meaning of human beings 1% portion of responsibility. When I meditate about this, wow! How can I dare say, “I can’t do this”?(?) I really appreciate it.

As continental director of America, sometimes I feel such a heavy responsibility, but God always gives me wisdom: “Treat yourself as God’s belonging.” If we have that kind of mindset, then God says, “I will do everything. No worry.” We need to deny ourself completely. “If you have this kind of faith, this kind of mindset, the rest I will (take care of?).” Then I am liberated.
