World Peace and the Role of Women 3 - October 8, 2022
Key Points
Just as the unity of a couple determines the harmony in a family, if Korea and Japan, as the father and mother countries respectively, unite and combine their strengths centered on head-wing thought, they will provide the strongest energy to build Asia’s future and accomplish world peace.
Internally our church members in the father and mother nations need to unite first; then we can create external world unity and harmony.
We should settle all problems with our heart centered on True Parents.
Just as we must take care of ourselves in the order of body, mind, and heart, God's providence of restoration is settled from the external environment to the internal world and to the even more internal world of the heart.
The ultimate purpose is to restore the heart in the end.
Faith and the human mind alone cannot resolve the challenges in Chapters One and Two of Genesis. To resolve them, fallen humans have to meet the True Parents who come as sons and daughters of God.
We need to become couples with the substantial results of filial piety – in which God has come to have faith in and trust us – and of having naturally subjugated Cain, ignorant of the Will, by touching his heart. These are the Foundations of Faith and Substance respectively.
In the Foundation of Substance we introduce God to those who do not know Him with the content of our experiencing God’s love and heart, and then have them serve Him.
Through the Blessing we enter the foundation of heart and love, the completion stage beyond the foundations of faith and substance and the top of the growth stage.
Based on their individual experiences of the Foundations of Faith and Substance in the formula course, couples should come to move and serve each other as God, treating each other with a vertical heart and reconciling horizontally.
The Foundations of Faith and Substance are a kind of practice to start family and enter the real practice between husband and wife. Then with this accumulation of love we can really build a beautiful foundation of heart and love between husband and wife.
As individuals we need to successfully complete the formula course as a kind of “bachelor’s degree.” then as a blessed couple we should come to long for each other and, in the family course, obtain a “doctorate of love.”
Happiness begins here.

Yesterday, President Naokimi and I had a lunch meeting with 15 Heavenly USA members. They shared their beautiful experiences in Washington, DC, and in a Las Vegas retreat. I am really moved by their testimonies. They are growing day by day, and they have a strong commitment to have some kind of witnessing activity at the Clifton Church now. I really appreciate all of them! Their faith is so bright, and they are inspired to have this kind of activity. Let’s pray for our USA team all the time. Thank you very much.

Today I’d like to talk about “World Peace and the Role of Women 3” from True Mother’s Anthology, Book 2.
<This speech was given at the founding rally of the Women's Federation for World Peace in Japan and at rallies between September 24 and October 6, 1992 for Koreans residing in Japan> Ladies and gentlemen, in order for Japan to strengthen its relations with other Asian countries, it needs to establish a position of unity with Korea. This will give Japan more friends and a larger foundation. Koreans and Japanese each refer to the others' country as “the country that is so close and yet so distant.” Now it is time for our two countries to become close to each other in every meaning of that word and to stand side by side in shouldering the future of Asia. More than anything else, I believe that Japan has to devote its full energies to the unification of Korea. Japan's rule over Korea culminated in a division of the peninsula. The deep pain that comes from this division can be relieved completely by efforts on your part for Korean reunification.
A first step would be to unite the two organizations of Korean residents in Japan, one of which is pro-Seoul and the other pro-Pyongyang. These two organizations can be brought together by means of head-wing thought, centered on true love. If Korea and Japan oppose each other, they will both lose all that they have. If these two countries combine their strengths, they will provide the strongest energy to build Asia's future and accomplish world peace. Historically Asia has been the leader in developing the spiritual aspect of world civilization. It is inevitable that a new movement of women, a new movement of families, and a new movement for peace begin here in Asia.
True Parents have providentially chosen Korea as the father nation and Japan as the mother nation. Just as we know through these words, the problem of the one family of our first human ancestors Adam and Eve has expanded as a global problem.
In order for a family to become one and (be) overflowing with peace and happiness, the most important thing is the way for the husband and wife to become one and harmonious. Furthermore, the way for Asia and the world to become one is the way in which Korea and Japan, in the providential position of husband and wife, become completely one centered on God’s will.
Just as a couple becomes both close and distant when they drift apart, Korea and Japan are no longer nations that are both close and distant, but nations that are just close and assuming the providential task of carrying the future of Asia and the world together, centered on head-wing thought.
On the other hand, True Parents said that if Korea and Japan quarrel and are at war with each other, they will lose all that they have, but they emphasized that if these two countries combine their strengths, they will provide the strongest energy to build Asia’s future and accomplish world peace.
Unity between the nations of Korea and Japan is very important. That’s why internally our church members in the two nations need to unite first. Our Korean and Japanese brothers and sisters as the representatives of the father and mother nations really need to unite together.
When we create internal unity between the husband and wife positions, we can create even external world unity and harmony.
My hope is that the Korean and Japanese nations will become closer and become one and will be able to lead other nations well.
LIVING DIVINE PRINCIPLE: The Fall - 3. The Tree of Life (2)
• According to the Bible, the hope of fallen people is to attain the tree of life. In Prov. 13:12, the Israelites of the Old Testament Age looked to the tree of life as their hope. Likewise, in Rev. 22:14, the hope of all Christians has been to approach and partake of the tree of life.
• However, in Gen. 3:24, it is written that when Adam fell, God blocked his path to the tree of life by stationing the cherubim with a flaming sword to guard it. From this, we can also deduce that the hope of Adam before the fall was the tree of life.
• Adam was cast out of the Garden of Eden without having attained his hope, the tree of life. For fallen people ever since, the tree of life has remained a hope unfulfilled.
Let’s study Father’s word.
Where to Place the Foundation of Heart (Shim Jeong)
<10-209> Now, we must settle all the matters living in this era. We must settle everything from our daily lives, to our bodies, minds and our hearts (Shim Jeong).Then where can we place the foundation of hearts (Shim Jeong)? Do not place it in any divine pastor nor in any religious sect, not even in our Unification Church. The foundation of heart (Shim Jeong) must be placed not in the progress of history but in the heart (Shim Jeong) of Adam and Eve before the fall. It must be like this so that through the heart (Shim Jeong), in order for us to fully digest the daily feelings of today and all the spirit of the times then settle down everything with heaven. Such sons and daughters must appear in this world.
Where can we place the foundation of hearts (Shim Jeong)? Father said not to place the foundation of hearts in any divine pastor nor in any religious sect, not even in our Unification Church. The foundation of heart must be placed in the heart of Adam and Eve before the fall.
These words are to be placed in True Parents who come with true life, true love, and true lineage. He said that we should settle all problems with our heart centered on True Parents.
First of all, he said that even with us as individuals, we must take care of ourselves in the order of body, mind, and heart. God's providence of restoration is settled from the external environment to the internal world and to the even more internal world of the heart.
Therefore, we must first restore the environment as the body, and on top of that foundation, we must restore human beings, which is the position of the internal mind, and finally, we must restore the heart, which is even more internal. We must not forget that the final restoration and the ultimate purpose is to restore the heart in the end.
(After the) formation and growth stages, finally we are entering the world of the heart. Our final goal is heart, how to become a person of the heart. The world of the heart is more essential and deeper than the world of love. That’s why Father says, “Do not place your heart centering on the your church or any other respected leaders or individuals. You really need to focus centering on our True Parents.”
Solve Genesis Chapter 1, First.
<10-209> Please think about this. Without solving Genesis chapter 1, we can not enter God’s Garden of Heart (ShimJeong). The tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the second chapter of Genesis must be settled first. We can not solve the fundamental problem without doing it. There is no perfection in ignorance. Do you think that only believing is enough? If then, I myself speaking here would not have been persecuted or blamed so much like this.
Fallen people today and even Christians who believe in the Bible are unable to solve Genesis Chapter 1. They do not give a clear answer to the issues of the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and to the human fall.
And they have also been unable to solve the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the second chapter of Genesis.
True Father said that without solving the first part of the Bible, Genesis chapter 1 and 2, how can we solve the fundamental problem? Christians cover it up and just tell us to believe, but Father said that if we could know about everything and solve them just by believing, he would not have suffered any persecution from Christians.
There is no perfection in ignorance. However, Father said that the solution to all these fundamental problems does not come from the human mind alone. Therefore, it is concluded that fallen humans have no solution to the problem unless they meet the True Parents who come as sons and daughters of God.
TODAY’S YOUTH MINISTRY: The Responsibilities of a Husband and Wife
I Have to Go on Two Courses
1. What kind of person do I have to become? First, I have to serve God as my Parent. Secondly, I have to introduce God to those who do not know Him and have them serve Him. The first stage is the period of building the foundation of faith between God and me, and the next stage is the period of the foundation of substance of bringing Cain to submission and having them serve God. By going on these two courses, we must become people who own our filial hearts for God. In other words, I must first have the heart of filial piety towards God, and then I have to have the heart that moves Cain. You must become couples with these substantial results of love of the foundation of faith and the foundation of substance.
What kind of person do I have to become? First, I have to serve God as my Parent. That is why creating the foundation in which God has faith in me is the foundation of faith. Therefore, in this period, I need to live serving my own Abel as God.
Secondly, I have to introduce God to those who do not know Him with the content of me experiencing God’s love and heart and then have them serve Him. The course of creating this foundation is the foundation of substance.
Therefore, in this period of establishing the foundation of substance, we need to really touch the heart of Cain, who does not know the Will, and bring them to natural surrender. While going through these two courses of foundation of faith and foundation of substance, we need to become couples with the substantial result of filial piety and the substantial results of subjugating Cain.
Without going through a proper foundation of faith and foundation of substance and starting family, all kinds of problems (emerge). That’s why before starting family we need to thoroughly go through the Foundation of Faith and Foundation of Substance. The Foundation of Faith and Foundation of Substance are a kind of practice to start family. The time period of practice is important when we enter the real practice between husband and wife. If we can complete the Foundation of Faith and Foundation of Substance, then we can really build a beautiful foundation of heart and love between husband and wife.
The Responsibilities of a Husband and Wife
2. After becoming a couple, the husband has to inspire his wife, and the wife has to inspire her husband. For the wife to inspire her husband means serving her husband like God the Father. And for the husband to inspire his wife means serving his wife like God. You must be harmonious between siblings by serving them with the heart of having been filial to God and your parents. The wife should serve her husband like Heaven. That means that a woman should treat her husband with the vertical heart that serves God. It is the same for the husband. Therefore, before meeting as husband and wife, if you do not have substantial results of being filial to your own parents and God, your life as a couple will easily flow horizontally. When dealing with my husband, I must express the heart of filial piety towards Heaven by treating him like God and my father.
When you receive the Blessing and become a couple, you will enter the foundation of heart and love, which is the foundation of completion above the foundation of faith and foundation of substance, and you will go on the course of love. A couple receiving the Blessing means that they have already passed the top of the growth stage and have entered the completion stage. This is the value that the Blessing gives.
Then after becoming a couple, what is the most important responsibility as husband and wife? That is for the husband to inspire and move his wife and for the wife to inspire and move her husband. Then how can you inspire your spouse? First, your mindset is very important.
True Parents told us that the husband should serve his wife like God and the wife should serve her husband like God. But this kind of practice does not happen all of a sudden. That is why we need to go through a training course of passing through the foundation of faith and foundation of substance. We need substantial results of serving Abel like God in the foundation of faith and subjugating Cain through love in the foundation of substance.
The important thing is that when the husband and wife serve each other like God, they are to treat each other with a vertical heart. The next thing is to reconcile horizontally just as Cain and Abel reconciled.
Therefore, before starting family as a couple, if you do not have substantial results of being filial to your own parents, Abel, or God, your life as a couple will easily flow horizontally.
What is the best way to practice good relations between husband and wife? First of all, you really need to attend and serve your own physical parents as filial sons and daughters. Also, you need to respect and serve your Abel. Then substantially you need to respect our True Parents and Heavenly God. This is one of the greatest practices for entering the foundation of heart where you can really practice with your spouse. Without the process of the Foundation of Faith, you will surely fail the relationship between husband and wife. Why do you quarrel and fight and do not respect each other? Because you did not go through a proper Foundation of Faith. The Foundation of Faith means what? I really love and respect and have filial piety toward God and True Parents and my Abel and my physical parents.
If you don’t have that kind of process when you enter the foundation of heart, you will surely fail with your spouse. That is why we need to go through that kind of training and process to respect Abel and God and True Parents. Substantially you need to practice after starting family with your spouse. That’s why the Foundation of Faith is incredibly important.
Then in the Foundation of Substance when you subjugate your Cains and serve and love them and care for them, you remove your fallen nature. Then when you enter the foundation of heart with your wife, you can harmonize horizontally very well. In any situation, you can create harmony between husband and wife.
That is why the vertical relationship centering on the Foundation of Faith and the horizontal relationship based on the Foundation of Substance, the vertical and horizontal relationships, are very important before starting family.
Family is the Course of a Couple Uniting and Specializing in Love
3. In addition to the heart that was filial to God and parents in the past, the couple must add more to the shimjeong that springs up from their heart and cherish the other and inspire them. The husband should always have a heart that longs for his wife, and the same goes for the wife for her husband. Just as in the past when you brought Cain to submission with the heart of filial piety towards God and parents, you must bring your own husband or wife to submission through true love. Just like how many people earn doctorate degrees by studying in a specialized field in university or graduate school, the couple must major in love by serving and respecting each other. The family is a course of specializing in love. This is just like passing through middle and high school courses and going to university to major in your own field of expertise. The family course is the course of the husband and wife earning their doctorate degrees in love.
In addition to the heart that was filial to God and parents in the past, the couple must add more to the shimjeong that springs up from their heart and cherish the other and inspire them.
In other words, I need to create a plus and add to the heart that was filial to my parents, the heart that loved my brothers and sisters, and the heart that loved God and True Parents up until now, and the object partner I have to love now is my spouse.
This is an accumulation (of love). You love your family and mother very much, and you love your own brothers and sisters, right? You already have that kind of result. You love your own siblings and your own Cain. You accumulate that kind of love. Finally when you enter the foundation of heart plus all this kind of love and put more of your heart into serving and loving your spouse, that is the foundation of heart.
The husband should always have a heart that longs for his wife, and the same goes for the wife for her husband. Do you have a heart that longs for your wife springing up within you? And do you have a heart that longs for your husband springing up within you?
Blessed couples who have reached the completion stage beyond the top of the growth stage are the introductory course to obtain a doctorate in true love. The family is a course of specializing in love.
This is just like passing through middle and high school courses and going to university to major in your own field of expertise. The family course is the course of the husband and wife earning their doctorate degrees in love.
The Place Where the Couple Dwells is Where the Word “Happiness” Begins
4. If you do not study properly during middle and high school to develop basic skills, you will face many difficulties when entering university. Similarly, when you start family life, if you did not properly go through courses of the foundation of faith and the foundation of substance before becoming a couple, it becomes the beginning of unhappiness rather than happiness. You will go through a lot of trial and error. We have to realize happiness in the family with a man and a woman becoming husband and wife. The wife is happy by serving her husband, and she is also happy by receiving love from her husband. It is the same for the husband. The word “happiness” begins here. If you immediately find your desired field of expertise and study in it, even studying becomes fun and you will not get bored. If you cannot properly find your major, you will wander, wondering “Should I do this or that?” Everyone should form a couple and ultimately earn their doctorate in love.
If you do not study properly during middle and high school to develop basic skills, you will face many difficulties when entering university.
Similarly, when you start family life, if you did not properly go through courses of the foundation of faith and the foundation of substance before becoming a couple, it becomes the beginning of unhappiness rather than happiness.
When you build a Foundation of Faith, if you do not love your mother and father – I am talking about your physical parents – and you do not love your Abel and you do not love True Parents and God centered on filial heart, filial piety, then you cannot build a good relationship with your spouse at all because this is the Foundation of Faith.
If you do not have much experience of serving your Cain as brothers and sisters, then when you enter t he foundation of heart, you always quarrel horizontally as husband and wife. That’s why you need to know how to love your Cain, how to move and inspire him.
I thought when I learned the Divine Principle, that the Foundation of Faith and Foundation of Substance, these two courses, were just for Adam’s, Noah’s, Abraham’s, Moses’ and Jesus’ families. It has nothing to do with me. That is how I thought. But I came to realize that this needs to be applied to my daily life of faith. How important they are! That is why before starting family, to build the Foundation of Faith between God and you and to build a Foundation of Substance between Cain and Abel, are really crucial and important in order create an ideal family centered on husband and wife.♦
