Key Points

  • Because our covenant of true love with God is connected with the eternal world every moment, we should think of each moment of our life as eternity and focus on growing ourselves earnestly and faithfully. No moment is temporary.

  • Whatever relationships we form become eternal relationships among God, the person we have give-and-take with and myself. No relationship is temporary or accidental.

  • Whenever we meet someone, we need to realize that we have an eternal and heartistic relationship with them.

  • Only when the tongues of fire were separated at Pentecost could the flaming sword be removed so that people could experience the Holy Spirit and meet Jesus, the spiritual True Parent.

  • The age of miracles, works of the Holy Spirit and faith is past. Now the works of the resurrection of true love must substantially occur and be manifest in the family through actually serving God and True Parents as a family.

  • We cannot rely on the spiritual world and spiritual phenomena any more. We need to substantialize true love in our family.

  • In the era of Cheon Il Guk the substantial Holy Spirit is True Mother. The work of the Holy Spirit is shown in our attending her and spreading True Parents’ true love and truth to all families.

  • In order to break down the barrier of the flaming sword at the completion level of the growth stage where humans fell, we must meet the True Parents, be reborn and receive the Blessing.

  • Because the substantial Holy Spirit is among us, we should not expect any spiritual work of the Holy Spirit to happen. Now the work of the Holy Spirit is manifest in the four realms of love in the family.

  • The model course in which True Parents fought with and won over Satan should be our model course.

  • Father sought to dominate himself before dominating the universe.

  • The biggest problem in self-domination is to fight and win against the three great enemies of eating, sleeping, and sexual desires.

  • True Father's next goal was to love God and all people with a love greater than Jesus. His third goal was to have wisdom greater than Solomon, and the fourth was to have absolute faith greater than that of Peter and Paul.

  • Wisdom comes from True Parents' words, prayers, and sincere devotion.

  • Absolute faith comes from Hyojeong and believing that you belong to God.

  • Being in control of yourself means you are responsible for yourself.

  • No one can help you with your responsibility for yourself. That is why God could not intervene in the Fall.

  • No one should indulge himself, feel complacent or live freely. If he relaxes even for a moment, Satan will immediately attack.

  • We should connect everything with God’s Will and providence.

  • How can you inherit someone else’s victorious life or course? First, sincerely respect the person who won. Second, learn everything with a humble heart and willingness to inherit. Third, put in ten times more effort, investment and jeongseong than the person who won before you. Then think more, prepare more, move more and bring more results than that person.

  • Christian churches seek experiences with the Holy Spirit, going to the prayer room or to a mountain to experience her. But those phenomena are no more now because the substantial Holy Spirit, True Mother, is with us as a model to show us the way.

Last night one of our beloved brothers, Antonio Betancourt, passed away. He is a really precious brother! I hope Sub-Region 2, Dr. Achille and all the staff, will do well (for Antonio). We need to send him off very, very well. He contributed so much for the sake of God’s will! He visited North Korea so many times and supported Dr. Bo Hi Pak and our True Parents. Wow! He is one of the exemplary missionaries! My dear brothers and sisters, let’s pray for him.

Luckily I visited him just two weeks ago, and I met him and greeted him. I had an opportunity to talk with him. Again, let’s pray for him.

Today I’d like to talk about “World Peace and the Role of Women 2” from True Mother’s Anthology, Book 2.

<This speech was given at the founding rally of the Women's Federation for World Peace in Japan and at rallies between September 24 and October 6, 1992 for Koreans residing in Japan>The covenants of love formed that day centering on God's true love are eternal and absolute. Such marriage bonds can never be seen as conditional or limited, because true love seeks to give perpetually. When two people come together in such love, they form an eternal association that no force can sunder. Thus, for these brides and grooms there can never be even the slightest thought of divorce or the corruption of sexual morality—two problems that have become so widespread in today’s society.

Because these people come together in an environment of God's true love, differences of nationality, race, language and customs do not become obstacles. God's true love melts down all obstacles, and these husbands and wives will discover in His bosom a common language of true love. They will come together in the common arena of true love. Their unions transcend nations, race and religion. They will grow to become citizens of the future world who will serve and embrace the world. When these people set down their roots of sacrificial true love around the world, the world will be swept clean of all the philosophies of hatred and conflict. There will be an end to the tragedies of war and genocide. There will be only true, ideal families and a true world.

True Mother said, “The covenant made centered on God's true love is eternal, absolute, and cannot be conditional or limited. And the meeting in true love remains as an eternal bond that cannot be separated from each other.”

What we can learn from True Mother's words here is that the covenant of true love with God is connected with the eternal world every moment and every hour. In that sense, we should think of our moments as eternity and focus on growing ourselves earnestly and faithfully.

I really so appreciate Rev. Yo Han Lee. When I went to the Korean UTS, he taught me this point: each moment, each hour, each second is connected to eternity. That is why each moment, each hour, each day is very precious. You need to live each moment, each hour as eternity. You need to focus on how you can grow very well preciously, faithfully and earnestly.

Once again, “The covenant made centered on God's true love is what? Eternal, absolute, and cannot be conditional or limited. And the meeting in true love remains as an eternal bond that cannot be separated from each other.”

Next, whoever we form a relationship with becomes an eternal relationship. Therefore, no matter what I do, it establishes an eternal relationship with God and the person I give and take with.

Therefore, it is astonishing to know that there is never a moment or relationship that is temporary. In that sense, my relationship with any person I meet should be directly connected to an eternal relationship.

As a Korean proverb says, It's fate even if your clothes brush against each other. Therefore, no matter who we meet, we should treat that person and I as an eternal relationship, not an accidental meeting

Whenever I meet someone, I need to think that you and I (have) an eternal relationship. That’s why we need to create an unforgettable relationship with everyone. (We should) not just relate temporarily. Let’s treat each moment, each hour, each minute, each second, each day (as) connected to eternity. Also, when we meet anyone, we need to have a heartistic relationship because our time is so precious! Each (person) is so precious! Wow! If we have that kind of mindset and attitude, how much our relationships with each other will improve and develop.

LIVING DIVINE PRINCIPLE: The Fall - 2. The Tree of Life (1)

• According to the Bible, the hope of fallen people is to attain the tree of life. In Prov. 13:12, the Israelites of the Old Testament Age looked to the tree of life as their hope. Likewise, in Rev. 22:14, the hope of all Christians has been to approach and partake of the tree of life.

• However, in Gen. 3:24, it is written that when Adam fell, God blocked his path to the tree of life by stationing the cherubim with a flaming sword to guard it. From this, we can also deduce that the hope of Adam before the fall was the tree of life.

• Adam was cast out of the Garden of Eden without having attained his hope, the tree of life. For fallen people ever since, the tree of life has remained a hope unfulfilled.

Let’s study Father’s word.

An Understanding of a Flaming Sword

<75-33>  In the bible, there is a saying that people saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated when the Holy Spirit came down on the day of Pentecost. This means that when Adam fell, God placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life and this flaming sword is a fire sword. Something like fire was used to block the way. So, the blockage must be open where the tongues of fire were separated in the day of Pentecost, as you all know. At that time, due to the separation of the flaming sword,  spiritual parents could emerge so that it lay the spiritual foundation to enlarge the vertical children.

Through the emergence of Christianity people met Jesus, the spiritual parent, through the experience of the Holy Spirit, and were raised from the level of servant to the level of adopted son.

From here, Christianity grew full-scale along with the work of the Holy Spirit. Only when the tongues of fire are separated can the flaming sword be removed, and people can experience the Holy Spirit and meet Jesus, the spiritual True Parent

<75-33> This is the progress of Christian history. The world of Christianity has expanded its territories through individuals, families, tribes,  races, nations and the world. But in this point of view, it only accomplished the spiritual standard but not yet the physical one.

Therefore God’s original providence would not be completed without setting a physical standard. This is why Jesus left the thought of second coming behind.

Since Christian culture has achieved salvation only on the spiritual standard, Jesus must return in the flesh in order to lay a substantial foundation bringing together the spiritual and physical.

In the Old Testament Age, there were miracles and wonders centered on the Law, and in the New Testament Age, Christianity always developed through the work of the Holy Spirit. But now, we are living in the age of love in which we live with True Parents.

Now the works of the resurrection of true love must substantially take place centering on the family. It must be an era that goes beyond believing in God and True Parents and shows the work of true love by actually serving God and True Parents in the family.

That is why Father says not only to believe in God and True Parents and Jesus. Now is the time to attend God and True Parents substantially. Attendance, not just belief. We need to live together with God and True Parents 24 hours, every second and every minute. Not just believing and finish. My goodness!

The work of the Holy Spirit in the era of Cheon Il Guk shows living in the fulfillment of Cheon Il Guk and attending and serving True Mother, who is the substantial Holy Spirit. Now, we have to live a life that shows the kingdom of heaven (by) attending God and True Parents in the family.

If that happens, such a true family will automatically expand to the church, the tribe and nation, eventually building the substantial Cheon Il Guk.

<76-96>  When Eve fell in the Garden of Eden and was united with the evil archangel who betrayed God, what God did was to place on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life . Why did God block the way with the fire sword? Why did God block the way to True Parents? That’s because  Eve  failed to stand in a position where she could be connected  with God. She fell from that position, as she fell, she could not go up. Therefore this must be exploded someday.

This is realized in the New Testament era, in Acts 2:3, when the 120 disciples were praying at the attic of Mark’s house they saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated when the Holy Spirit came down on the day of Pentecost.  In here, the tongues like fire means a sword like a tongue while it is symbolized as a flaming sword in Gen 3:24. Do you understand? There was a saying that God blocked with the flaming sword, the sword is the same as a tongue. For this reason, when the tongues were separated, the Holy spirit could come down, then all the 120 disciples were united with Jesus while filled with the Holy Spirit. (spiritual salvation)

When can we explode a flaming sword? Jesus' disciples experienced the work of the Holy Spirit together with the resurrected Jesus, so they broke the flaming swords. Then, how can we in this age of living with True Parents explode a flaming sword?

This is the era of Cheon Il Guk, an era in which we live together with True Father and True Mother, who is the substantial Holy Spirit. In this age, just as our tongues are separated by the Word when we become one with True Parents’ Words, we will remove our fallen nature and be reborn and resurrected through their words and attending them. We will go to the place where we receive the Blessing.

In order to break down the barrier of the flaming sword at the completion level of the growth stage where humans fell, we must meet the True Parents, be reborn and receive the Blessing

After Jesus’ resurrection, Christians believed in Jesus and united with him, experienced the Holy Spirit, and reached spiritual salvation. When we meet True Parents, receive the Blessing, start a family, and enter the age of completion, we receive salvation both in spirit and in body.

What is the work of the Holy Spirit for us in the era of Cheon Il Guk?

Brothers and sisters ask me why since we are living in the era of Cheon Il Guk and we are attending God and True Parents directly, why do the substantial Holy Spirit and spiritual phenomena not appear? They really misunderstand this. What is the work of the Holy Spirit for us in the era of Cheon Il Guk?

The husband moves the wife and the wife moves the husband with love. And it is the work of the Holy Spirit that enables parents to move their children and children to move their parents with love. It is the actual work of the Holy Spirit that brothers and sisters move with love. There is no more work of the Holy Spirit than this. In this age, we should not expect any spiritual work of the Holy Spirit to happen. Now the work of the Holy Spirit must take place between husband and wife, between parents and children, between brothers and sisters, and between Cain and Abel.

After Jesus left, no one became the central figure. That is why the Holy Spirit guided each of Jesus’ disciples and followers.

Now True Parents have come to the earth and showed everything: the method, how to do (everything), how to unite. (They have) already shown the example. (There is) no need any more for the substantial Holy Spirit to come down and (create) spiritual phenomena. (That is) no more.

We need to substantialize the Holy Spirit in our family between husband and wife, between parents and children, between brothers and sisters and between Cain and Abel. Where? In the family.

If you know how to move your wife, your husband, your parents, your children, that is the work of the Holy Spirit, the substantial Holy Spirit. Wow!

The era of the Cheon Il Guk means what? The era of heart. We have already reached the final stage. We cannot rely on the spiritual world and spiritual phenomena any more. We need to substantialize in our family. My wife, my husband, my parents are the substantial Holy Spirit. My children should be the substantial Holy Spirit. That’s it. We need to realize this in our family. What do you want to realize more than this? We are living in such an amazing era and time!

That is why even though Christians are speaking about the Holy Spirit and this and that, I am telling you, this kind of phenomena is disappearing. (It is) no more now. Why? It is a different time, different era. Now is the era of love and heart. We need to settle substantially in our family between you and me.

TODAY’S YOUTH MINISTRY: Self-Domination, Inheritance, and Development

Perfect Self-Domination

1. True Father lived his life with the goal of gaining domination over the self before desiring to dominate the universe. He said that the biggest problem in self-domination is to fight and win against the three great enemies of eating, sleeping, and sexual desires. He said that the next goal is to love God and all people with a love greater than Jesus. He said that he fought to have wisdom greater than Solomon as the third goal, and to have absolute faith greater than Peter and St. Paul as the fourth goal. True Parents came to this earth as the Messiah, but they also must walk the model course to subjugate Satan. Just as Moses walked the model course of Jacob and Jesus had to walk the model course of Moses, True Father had to inherit and take the victorious path of past central figures in the providence of restoration.

The model course in which True Parents fought and won over Satan should be our model course

True Father lived his life with the goal of gaining dominion over the self before desiring to dominate the universe. Father said that the biggest problem in self-domination is to fight and win against the three great enemies of eating, sleeping, and sexual desires. Everyone, how much do you control yourself?

He said that True Father's next goal was to love God and all people with a love greater than Jesus. Even True Father had to follow the model course from Jacob, Moses and Jesus. We need to follow True Parents’ model course.

Can you love your enemies like Jesus did? You should be like True Father, who went to prison more than 6 times, and was still able to pray for blessings for his enemies. Can we also resemble True Parents and do the same?

True Father said that his third goal was to have wisdom greater than Solomon, and the fourth was to have absolute faith greater than that of Peter and St. Paul. He fought to reach his goals. Do you have the same wisdom as True Father in subduing Satan? Wisdom comes from True Parents' words, prayers, and sincere devotion actually. And absolute faith comes from Hyojeong and believing that you belong to God.

Dominating Yourself Means Taking Responsibility for Yourself

2. Just as True Father showed us the path to victory as a model for subjugating Satan, we, like True Parents, must first learn to dominate ourselves. In fact, if you overcome yourself, you can't ask for anything more. To say that you are in control of yourself means that you are responsible for yourself. In the end, I am the person responsible for myself. No one can do anything for me. In the end, each of us is responsible for ourselves. To do this, we must trust the victors and inherit from them. When we believe in God, Jesus, and True Parents, we learn and inherit everything from them. Therefore, today we need to know what kind of self we are, what to inherit and how to develop ourselves. Even non-believers today get along well with their parents, and when they go to school, they get along well with their teachers. All human beings are supposed to relate to each other and have dominion over themselves, not be taken into self-indulgence.

If we, like True Parents, know how to dominate ourselves first, there is nothing we can hope for more than this. To say that you are in control of yourself means that you are responsible for yourself.

No one can help you with your responsibilities. Even God and True Parents cannot help. If God could have intervened in the responsibility of Adam and Eve, how could they have fallen?

How, then, can I fulfill my responsibilities and be victorious? There is nothing other than believing the victorious central figures, inheriting from them, and putting it into practice.

In that sense, True Parents are our only eternal model.

True Parents Who Devoted Their Best to Self-Domination

3. Just like I have to obey traffic laws when I drive on the road, no one is supposed to live freely as they want. You must not distract yourself even for a moment. You have to dominate yourself well. You cannot thoughtlessly indulge yourself or feel complacent even for a moment. Looking at True Parents’ life course, we can see that they devoted their entire lives to self-domination. In the past, True Father sometimes came back to Korea after staying in the United States for a long time. Despite it being time to sleep due to the time difference, he called the leaders and talked to them until late at night. Then, the remaining leaders said to him, “True Father, you must be very tired. Please stop now and go to sleep.” He just sat there and replied, “You say that because you want to sleep. You think terribly of me!” Even if he felt drowsy, he just held on and dominated himself.

Just as I have to obey traffic laws when I drive on the road, no one is supposed to live freely as they want. If you distract yourself even for a moment, Satan will attack you immediately. So, you have to dominate yourself well every second, every minute, every moment.

If you are relaxed, even a little spaced out? Satan immediately comes in. Wow! When you rest or are sleeping or wherever you go, you really need to dominate yourself, no matter what.

Those who follow the path of faith cannot thoughtlessly indulge themselves or feel complacent even for a moment. Even if we look at True Parents’ life course, we can see that they devoted their entire lives to self-domination.

True Parents Always Live in Competition with Satan

4. True Father fights himself even over trivial things. That is how thoroughly True Father dominates himself. He fights with a competitive spirit to be better than Satan in whatever he does. In everything he does, he connects it with the Will and providence and always tries to win. He hates being left behind, whether he's playing pool, hunting, or going ocean fishing to catch tuna. There is an interesting anecdote about True Father catching a tuna. He said he once brought in a famous tuna catcher from Europe and competed with him. That old man was the same age as True Father. He was said to have followed his father from childhood and spent his whole life at sea. He knew the sea better than anyone and was a very good tuna fisherman.

Since True Parents must ultimately win the battle against Satan, they connect everything to the fight against Satan and to God’s Will and providence in whatever they do.

The Know-Hows of Inheritance and Development Learned from True Parents

5. According to people’s testimonies, True Father first receives from a person everything he has experienced up to this day. True Father travels with him day and night, hearing stories and experiences from him, and he inherits all his know-how. And in the end True Father overcomes him. He listens seriously to even the most trivial experiences of others. Most people don't listen well to others, but True Father takes even the smallest things seriously. We tend to ignore what we think are trivial things such as stories of other people's dreams at times, but True Father listens to even the smallest stories carefully, learns what he needs to learn, and worries about us in unfortunate circumstances. True Father lives with a desire to learn and empathize with the other person’s serious, troubled, sad, and unfair things, whether they were knowledgeable or not and regardless of their position.

How can you inherit and develop someone else’s victorious life or course? First of all, I must sincerely respect the person who won. Second, it is important to learn everything with a humble heart and to have a willingness to inherit.

How to inherit? I am telling you. We need to inherit from True Parents, from those who are successful throughout human history as central figures. How can we inherit (from them)? What is the best way to inherit? In order to inherit, first of all, you need to respect (them). Then, have a humble heart and the willingness to inherit.

Next, you have to put in ten times more effort, investment and jeongseong than the person who won before you. Father said that you can develop when you think more, prepare more, move more and bring more results than the person who won ahead of you

This is secret how to inherit and develop. Wow! I learned from Father: How to inherit? You need to resepect with a humble heart, to have the willingness to inherit. Then in order to win over somebody, you need to invest, work harder, think more than that guy ten or 20 times, and you need to prepare more than that guy by ten or 20 times. Then you need to be active; you need to move forward more than anyone else. This is the only way you can inherit.

We learned very important things from Father.

Today I talked about “Self-domination, Inheritance, and Development.”

(Testimony Sonja Ogden and Jaimie Christian, their matching experience)

(Response to sharing) When I joined the Unification Church, I studied the Bible. When I visited Christian churches, they spoke about needing an experience with the Holy Spirit and they went to the prayer room or to a mountain. “Holy Spirit! Holy Spirit!”

You need to see religion now. Those kinds of phenomena are no more. Everything is decreasing. Why? The time is different now. The era is different. Before True Parents came, the Holy Spirit had to lead Jesus’ followers. (There was) no one to show an example; nobody showed an exemplary life. But since True Parents have come, they (are the) substantial Holy Spirit and have showed everything. You need to practice in your family. Then would you kneel down (and pray), “Holy Spirit! Holy Spirit!” What are you talking about? Who is the substantial Holy Spirit? Love your wife, your husband, your parents, your children and move your spouse’s heart. Even ... the Holy Spirit cannot move your wife’s heart. But if you really move your wife’s heart, your husband’s heart, your children’s heart, your parents’ heart, then “Oh, that is the substantial Holy Spirit!” What is more than this? Wow!

That is why now do not say, “Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit!” (and look for) spiritual phenomena. This era has completely gone away. This is a different era, a different time. Our True Parents have showed the model already.)♦
