Today I’d like to talk again about “The Korean people and the only begotten daughter ” from True Mother’s Anthology, Book 1.

I just mentioned the story of Abraham. Abraham's faith became the basis on which Heaven could send his only begotten son through the nation of Israel. How great a blessing is this to fallen humanity! Yet, did the people in those days receive the only begotten son well? Heaven sent his only begotten son to the people of Israel after a long wait and after raising them for 4,000 years. Yet, the people of Israel and the followers of Judaism ended up sending God's only begotten son to the cross. Jesus, however, said that he would come again. The only begotten son, whom God could love, had appeared for the first time since the Fall. What do you think our Heavenly Parent's heart would have been like? ​

God wanted to educate and embrace all humanity, people living in ignorance; He wanted to do so through Heaven's lineage, through the Messiah. When that could not happen, imagine the pain God's heart would have been in. Yet, the providence had to continue. Heaven's providence cannot work, however, with God's only begotten son alone. Did you know that the 6,000-year providential history was also concerned with finding and raising God's only begotten daughter? God did this even during Jesus' time. However, it did not bear fruit. History remembers God's only begotten son but not God's only begotten daughter. Isn't the providence of Christianity one of searching for the Bride? The providence of restoration was also concerned with looking for the Bride, for God's only begotten daughter. (2014.06.22, Cheon Jeong Gung)​

Furthermore, in October of 1970, True Father said the following -- very meaningful :

“The Returning Lord comes to find the mother of humanity. In other words, he comes to find his bride. The Lord, who is the bridegroom, is not looking for a bride within the fallen realm. He is looking for the woman who was born of the unfallen, pure lineage. Then, upon what kind of foundation would such a bride, such a mother, need to be born? ...There needs to be a mother who, as a virgin with no connection to sin, can stand in the position of the True Mother.” (035-218, October 19, 1970)​

Wow! This is nothing short of an incredible statement. True Father says here that the main purpose of the Lord’s return is to find the mother of humankind, and that the Only-Begotten Daughter who comes as the mother of humankind must be born of the unfallen, pure lineage.

He also says that this individual must become a mother who, as a virgin with no connection to sin, can stand in the position of the True Mother. Where else can we find these clear statements about the Only-Begotten Daughter and True Mother?

True Father very clearly spoke about the position of the True Mother, who is the begotten daughter, in 1970.

When we look at the Israelites' history, Heaven had guided them for 4,000 years until they established a national foundation and a national standard. Then he sent Jesus. The Israelites had to unite with Jesus to set up the conditions for the only begotten daughter. Then Jesus could have married and taken over the Roman Empire. Because the Israelites, who had been prepared over a long period of time, failed their responsibility in this way, they had to pay a great deal of indemnity. When a people that God has chosen fails in their responsibility, God cannot use them again. You can see this in the history in the Bible. Thus, God also has to find and establish a national standard to be the foundation for his only begotten daughter. Why is Korea called Hanguk? Out of our brilliant 5,000-year culture, our history, Goguryeo [a kingdom, 37 BC–AD 668] lasted almost 1,000 years]​

Therefore, when Goguryeo dissolved and Goryeo was founded, they called it Goryeo by using the same “go” character. As Goryeo dissolved, Joseon was founded. During its early days, it was called Gojoseon. Coinciding with Korea's liberation, why did this country's name become Hanguk? Heaven's providence decided the fate of this nation. Why? Because it was the nation where the only begotten son and daughter of God would be born. Between 800 and 400 BC was a Han (韓) kingdom that derived from the Dongi People. This appears in one of the most ancient books in China. The name Han did not appear from among the three kingdoms that made up Korea in the past. History records that the family of the Han kingdom was chased out of China and came down south by sea. Heaven carried out the providence to bring the most lonely and good-hearted kingdom to the Korean peninsula to build the national foundation. Therefore, the Korean people need to become people that fulfill Heavenly Parent's wish and True Parents' wish. This country must become the one that does that. You should stand in the center and invest in this. (2016.02.24, Cheon Jeong Gung)​

LIVING DIVINE PRINCIPLE: Who Is God?

​​God is:

• The subject and harmonious union of original internal nature and original external form.

• The harmonious union of original masculinity and original femininity.

• The subject partner having qualities of internal nature and masculinity towards the universe.

11. God is the God of absolute faith, absolute love, and absolute obedience.​

12. God is the subject of true love, true life, and true lineage.​

13. God is the subject of conscience.​

14. God is a God of bitter pain.​

15. God is a God of mercy.​

16. God is a God of sorrow.​

17. God is a being who needs to be liberated.​

Today, in the series of lectures on Who God Is, I would like to share a message with the subject of “God is a God of bitter pain.”

God is a God of Bitter Pain

<42-53> Who has God's pain, the pain of restoration? First of all, God has it. Up until now, God has worked while traveling the path of restoration carrying along His painful heart of suffering. In today's world, I don't know if there is anybody who is ready to cry out, "Oh my goodness! I am going to die!" and then collapse, but even that is not a problem. Do you understand? God, who must become the lord of goodness who created heaven and earth and the father of glory, has been in even more wretched circumstances than humankind. ​

God has been in hell for 6,000 years in order to save his children. How many people fall into hell in a day? Where will the hearts of parents be when their children fall into hell? You must know that God's heart is in a more difficult position than hell.

Many people think that going to Hell is an unbearable and terrible pain. However, no matter how great the suffering of hell is, it does not dare compare to the pain and suffering that God has endured for the past 6,000 years.

Think about it. How many people fall into hell every day? According to UN statistics, more than 150,000 people on earth go to the spirit world every day. What about God's pain to see most of them go to hell?

Considering God's suffering for 6,000 years: because of fallen human beings so far, we should think that the suffering that I suffer is nothing. I must go out on behalf of my ancestors, ready to pay any pain or any indemnity. If God can be liberated through my pain and indemnity, I should be willing to go down this road.

In fact, we must know that the pain that comes to us is the pain that God has been waiting for to save us. When pain meets pain, we can understand each other's pain. Therefore, you should know that God does not come to me as a God of joy, but first as a God of pain.

<42-53> From the position of a parent who must rescue his children, but until now has been unable to do so, how much blood,sweat and tears has God shed in his struggling? Because of this, even while enduring suffering, God is a great king, and even while shedding tears, God is a great king. Embracing the complicated history of blood, sweat and tears, God is one who has stood on the altar of blood as the king of martyrs. ​

If there are people who have shed tears for fallen humans over the past 6,000 years, God is the great king of tears because God shed the most tears. Imagine that if God's tears were collected, there would have been more than ocean water.

Can you imagine? His tears are more than the water in the ocean. Father said whenever he looks at the water of the ocean (he thinks) God’s tears accumulated like that. Since Adam and Eve fell, he has shed tears and cried out and cried and cried and cried. His tears accumulated like the water in the ocean.

Also, if people suffered during the past period of the providence of restoration because of fallen human beings, then God is the great king of suffering because no one has suffered more than God. Imagine that if you pile up God's suffering, it's higher than Mount Everest, the highest mountain on Earth.

That’s why when Father looks at the highest mountains, he sees it as an accumulation of God’s pain. God’s suffering and pain are more than Mt. Everest, the highest mountain on earth. God’s tears are more than the ocean water; his pain is greater than the highest mountain, Mt. Everest.

During the past 6,000 years of history, to lay the foundation for Abel's victory, many people shed blood and sacrificed it. How many people bled and died unfairly? Think about how many people were killed by Hitler, and how many people were sacrificed for blood because of communism.

Can you imagine that? Many were killed without knowing happiness.(?) Many people were killed by communism, by evil dictators… without knowing God, without knowing the purpose of their life. They just came and went without any meaningful life. It is incredible. Heavenly Father looks at this situation; how much he cries out; how much he is weeping and weeping and weeping because each human being is his prince and princess. Each of them. Without knowing God and without knowing the value of their life, they just passed away. Can you imagine Heavenly Father’s incredible suffering about that?

When I think about the word “Hello…” “Hello, my brothers. Hello.” What does “hello” mean? Many people go to hell, “Hell-o” from hell. They really try to get out of hell. “Hell-o-o-o-o! Hell-o-o-o-o! Save me!” How many people are shouting and shouting and crying out. Many people are scared of that. Can you imagine the sound of people crying out? That is God’s crying, more than any people who are crying out. Wow! Heavenly God, no one knows this reality … That’s why True Father is always talking about God. He says:

God is the great king of tears.

God is the greatest king of pain.

God is the greatest king of martyrs.

How many people know about this reality of God?

<42-53> Looking from the point of view of all of the intense grief, no matter how much people have suffered, it is no comparison to God's suffering. This means, if we know that Father, we must have the heart of a dutiful child toward that Father. The suffering and pain we are going through is nothing. ​

A mature filial child knows the hearts of his parents. I'm not a filial child if I still can't cry for God and True Parents. (If you say,) “I never, ever shed tears for God and True Parents,” that means we are still immature children. Young children never know their parents’ suffering, their parents’ difficulties. As a human being, as a member of the Unification Church, if you never shed tears for God and True Parents, that means your maturity of heart is very poor, still far away from God. Those who have never shed tears over God’s sorrowful heart are really, really immature children, still babies.

Such a person still has a long way to go emotionally. A young child is completely unaware of the pain and sorrow of their parents.

In order to be freed from their suffering, immature children simply try to overcome everything with positive concepts, positive thinking, positive thinking, positive thoughts, regardless of God's heart. He does not consider the suffering that comes to him to be the suffering of God. He is just trying to get away from the pain and stress that comes to him.

Any sermons, any lectures, and any faith that do not know God's pain and tears will eventually disappear. Positive, positive, positive sermons and words that have nothing to do with God's sorrow, just thankful sermons, and human popular sermons may bring temporary satisfaction, and they may temporarily comfort you and become popular, but eventually they all disappear.

They have nothing to do with God’s heart, nothing to do with his pain. Any kind of thought, any kind of appreciation, just disappears. You need to understand. We need to relate to Heavenly Parent all the time.

A (person of) filial piety is a person who always sheds tears for the pain of his parents.

<42-53> By taking responsibility for the problems between people, and by trying to accomplish good things, people in this world can take responsibility for solving God's bitter pain. Not only the world, but we ourselves, by standing as the vanguard of the nation and the world, bearing God's difficulties, even if we have suffer pain to the point of death, can handle it if we say, "God, please be at peace!" If I take responsibility and become a barrier on my father's suffering path, if there are sons and daughters who will head for the enemy camp, even if there are the suffering hundreds of times indescribable hardships ahead, God will suffer with joy for the sake of His sons and daughters. Do you understand what I am saying? ​

This is very important guidance given by Father.

A person who tries to take responsibility for the pain of the other person in human relationships is a person who can eventually take responsibility for God’s bitter pain. He thinks the bitter pain and suffering of the other person are God’s bitter pain and suffering.

Treating the pain of others as God’s pain and suffering and trying to solve that person’s pain and suffering is the way to liberate God’s pain and suffering. Father’s attitude is really amazing! Helping humankind’s suffering and hardship liberates God’s heart and suffering.

Go further and think about taking responsibility for the pain of the family, the pain of the country, and the pain of mankind and go forward.

Therefore, think of the suffering that comes to me and the suffering of those around me as the suffering of God. Think of the pain that comes to you as a channel through which you can (reach) reunion with God and accept it with joy.

How can we deal with pain? We need to relate (it) to God. Then suffering and pain have meaning. Do not just think, “I want to get out of my own pain and suffering.” Do not think that. There is meaning in why this suffering and pain come to me. There is meaning; you need to find the meaning. What does it mean? Why has this suffering come to me? There is meaning in it. (You are?) a channel of suffering. This is a great opportunity to meet God’s bitter pain, God’s suffering. There is a meaning. “This is my own offering.” (But if we say,) “I want to get out of my own suffering and pain,” then we cannot relate to heaven.

Everything has a meaning. Why did this suffering come to me? Why did this bitter pain come to me? Why did this kind of situation come to me? There is a meaning. You need to find the meaning. You need to relate to God.

<42-53> You must understand that only by going through a course of suffering and joy can you bring joy and glory to God. Therefore, it is very important that you understand that if you do not go a course of suffering, if you do not sacrifice, if you let others bear your debt, you will not be able to comfort God's suffering heart.​

Take responsibility for God’s hardships.

That is the attitude of filial sons and daughters.

So, think that the path to (be) heartistically close to God is responsible for God's suffering. In order to take responsibility for God's pain and sacrifice, be prepared to go through any path of suffering. And think that the way to solve the suffering of those around you is the way to release, to liberate God's suffering.

TODAY’S YOUTH MINISTRY: Joseph’s Course - The Prosperous Joseph​​

Why did Joseph become prosperous? I would like to explain (this) through reading the Bible.

Genesis 45:1-28 Joseph Makes Himself Known​​

1 Then Joseph could no longer control himself before all his attendants, and he cried out, “Have everyone leave my presence!” So there was no one with Joseph when he made himself known to his brothers. ​

2 And he wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard him, and Pharaoh’s household heard about it. ​

3 Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph! Is my father still living?” But his brothers were not able to answer him, because they were terrified at his presence. ​

4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! ​

5 And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.​

What kind of person Joseph is! I cannot understand his heart! He has a different kind of blood lineage.

Joseph finally met his brothers who had sold him. And as soon as he saw his brothers, he cried out loud, unable to control his feelings. He cried out so loud that it could be heard all the way from Pharaoh's Court.

Joseph eventually revealed his identity (to his brothers), telling them that he is their brother Joseph, whom they sold.

Seeing that his brothers who had sold him were trembling in fear that they would be killed, Joseph told them not to worry that they sold him. Rather, he comforted them, saying “God had sent me here first to save the family.” He told them that he came here, not because his brothers had sold him, but because it was God’s will.

How beautiful his heart and faith were. He did not know the Divine Principle. Nobody had guided him toward(?) the Principle. How come he had that kind of heart?

How could Joseph have a heart to forgive his brothers? First, he thought that the course of suffering he went through was God's will to save Israel and his family. Second, he thought that during his absence, his father Jacob was taken care of thanks to his brothers, so he had a grateful heart towards them. Joseph was a filial son who loved his father Jacob more than anyone else.

That is why his first question to his brothers was, “How is my father, Jacob?” He was totally a filial son.

He knew that he had to love the brothers his father loved. He knew that the quarrels of the brothers broke the hearts of the parents the most.

Indeed, Joseph was different in the quality of his blood lineage. The more he suffered, the closer he became to God. Joseph was able to have such a wonderful heart because he was born on the foundation where his mother Rachel restored the fallen blood lineage.

And from a young age, Joseph grew up receiving a lot of love from his parents, Jacob and Rachel. Children who grow up with enough love from their parents have a generous heart and room to give such love to others.

That’s why when our children are very young, they need to receive a lot of love from their father and mother. These children grow up well and have a generous heart and room to give their love to others.

Someone who lacks love from his father and mother always complains, always has dissatisfaction, always goes … way. When you see that children always go a different direction and have a lot of complaints and dissatisfaction, that means what? Our children did not receive love properly from their father and mother. We can (say it was) because of God’s will, “I don’t have time to take care of my own sons and daughters.” Maybe there is some reason (for this).

However, we need to reflect on our situation. If our children have not received love properly from their father and mother, they easily become horizontal; they go their own way and become self centered. Those who do not receive love from their parents easily become self-centered, egoistic, very, very strong (stubborn?).

Look at Joseph. How come is he such a wonderful guy? First of all, his mother, Rachel, overcame fallen nature through real repentance and met God, (thus) changing her blood lineage. Based on that foundation, Joseph was born and received a lot of love from his father, Jacob, and his mother. That is why he had that kind of capacity, personality and love and could relate to anyone. He was generous and could relate to anyone. How beautiful it is!

6 For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. ​

7 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. ​

8 “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt. ​

9 Now hurry back to my father and say to him, “This is what your son Joseph says: ‘God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; don’t delay. ​

10 You shall live in the region of Goshen and be near me—you, your children and grandchildren, your flocks and herds, and all you have.’” ​

Joseph says to his brothers, “God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.”

Joseph had absolute faith that all the destinies given to him were God's will. That is why he was able to gain victory under any circumstances without blaming anyone. Therefore, we, too, should not blame others for everything while we are living our life of faith. If you blame your parents, your ancestors, being poor, and your partner, you cannot overcome any circumstances. All circumstances that come upon me should be passed on with gratitude, thinking that it is God’s will, it is God’s will and destiny given to me by heaven.

Never think in a horizontal way. In any difficult destiny, any difficult situation, any kind of circumstances, think that, “God gave me this kind of environment, this kind of destiny. I willingly accept it. I happily accept it. I have to be grateful.” That was Joseph’s attitude in his life of faith.

Again Joseph says “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. But God!”

Wow! This is amazing. If when he saw his brothers, (he had thought,) “(These are) the ones who sold me, the ones who made me suffer,” and had a resentful feeling” -- can you imagine that? -- he could not have overcome anything, and he could not have become prime minister of Egypt. He could not have!

(Rather,) he thought that “This was God.”

“He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.”

I believe that Joseph’s attitude in dealing with his destiny should be our attitude of faith, without blaming anyone for any destiny.

(If we ask,) “Why is my husband like that? Why is my wife like that? Why is my life so miserable? How come my children are like that? How come my economic situation is like that? Why do I need to struggle with this or that?”... You need to think about the meaning (of these things). You need to adjust(?). “Why do I need to go through this difficult course?” You need to think about it. There is a reason. You need to think, “God provided this kind of destiny. I happily, willingly need to overcome.”

​11 I will provide for you there, because five years of famine are still to come. Otherwise you and your household and all who belong to you will become destitute.’​

12 “You can see for yourselves, and so can my brother Benjamin, that it is really I who am speaking to you. ​

13 Tell my father about all the honor accorded me in Egypt and about everything you have seen. And bring my father down here quickly.”​

14 Then he threw his arms around his brother Benjamin and wept, and Benjamin embraced him, weeping. ​

15 And he kissed all his brothers and wept over them. Afterward his brothers talked with him. ​

16 When the news reached Pharaoh’s palace that Joseph’s brothers had come, Pharaoh and all his officials were pleased.​

Joseph threw his arms around his brother Benjamin, and they wept together for a while. Benjamin was his real physical brother who came from Rachel’s blood lineage. Here, we can see that Joseph missed and loved his parents more than anyone else. We can also see how much he loved his own younger full brother, Benjamin. He was truly a filial son who loved his father, Jacob, more than anyone else, and he was a champion of heart who loved his brothers.

17 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Tell your brothers, ‘Do this: Load your animals and return to the land of Canaan, ​

18 and bring your father and your families back to me. I will give you the best of the land of Egypt and you can enjoy the fat of the land.’ ​

19 “You are also directed to tell them, ‘Do this: Take some carts from Egypt for your children and your wives, and get your father and come.

20 Never mind about your belongings, because the best of all Egypt will be yours.’” ​

21 So the sons of Israel did this. Joseph gave them carts, as Pharaoh had commanded, and he also gave them provisions for their journey. ​

22 To each of them he gave new clothing, but to Benjamin he gave three hundred shekels of silver and five sets of clothes.​

23 And this is what he sent to his father: ten donkeys loaded with the best things of Egypt, and ten female donkeys loaded with grain and bread and other provisions for his journey. ​

24 Then he sent his brothers away, and as they were leaving he said to them, “Don’t quarrel on the way!” ​

25 So they went up out of Egypt and came to their father Jacob in the land of Canaan. ​

26 They told him, “Joseph is still alive! In fact, he is ruler of all Egypt.” Jacob was stunned; he did not believe them.​

How shocked Jacob was. He was completely convinced that his son Joseph had already died. Joseph’s brothers came back and told his father. “He is still alive,” but Jacob cannot believe it.

27 But when they told him everything Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the carts Joseph had sent to carry him back, the spirit of their father Jacob revived. ​

28 And Israel said, “I’m convinced! My son Joseph is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.”​

Genesis 46:1-4​

1 So Israel set out with all that was his, and when he reached Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. ​

2 And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, “Jacob! Jacob!” “Here I am,” he replied. ​

3 “I am God, the God of your father,” he said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there. ​

4 I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.”​

Wow! He was really struggling and struggling about going down to Egypt.

When Jacob found it difficult to leave his hometown, God appeared to him and comforted him and told him, “You need to go down. This is God's will.”

Looking at this scene, when we, too, eventually die one day, we need to reflect on whether we are people that God, knowing the time of our death in advance, can appear to and comfort us.

Wow! Jacob’s life! God said, “Jacob, Jacob. Jacob.” “Here I am,” Jacob replied, and God said, “I am God, the God of your father.” Wow! This kind of confession from God! God said, “The God of your father.” Jacob already had a parent-child relationship with God.

Genesis ​46: 28-30​

28 Now Jacob sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to Goshen. When they arrived in the region of Goshen, ​

29 Joseph had his chariot made ready and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel. As soon as Joseph appeared before him, he threw his arms around his father and wept for a long time.​

30 Israel said to Joseph, “Now I am ready to die, since I have seen for myself that you are still alive.”​

Oh, my God! Father and son reunion! Jacob said, “I am ready to die because I have seen for myself that you are still alive.” Beautiful reunion!

Finally, the reunion of father and son Jacob and Joseph takes place, and the two sit and weep and weep and weep. We should see that this kind of reunion between parent and child should take place between God and me, and True Parents and me someday.

We will embrace each other, kiss each other and weep together.

When will we see the day of reunion with such a heart?

Genesis ​47: 27-31​

27 Now the Israelites settled in Egypt in the region of Goshen. They acquired property there and were fruitful and increased greatly in number. ​

28 Jacob lived in Egypt seventeen years, and the years of his life were a hundred and forty-seven. ​

29 When the time drew near for Israel to die, he called for his son Joseph and said to him, “If I have found favor in your eyes, put your hand under my thigh and promise that you will show me kindness and faithfulness. Do not bury me in Egypt, ​

30 but when I rest with my fathers, carry me out of Egypt and bury me where they are buried.” “I will do as you say,” he said. ​

31 “Swear to me,” he said. Then Joseph swore to him, and Israel worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.​

Eventually, Jacob dies at the age of 147. As he leaves his will, he asks to be buried where his ancestors are buried.

From this, we can see that Jacob loved his ancestors more than anyone else. He considered the inheritance of his ancestors as precious as life.

Before his final (moment of) death, it was said that he worshiped God. Jacob loved the will of God until his last moment, and he died while worshiping God. Isn’t that such a wonderful death?

I don’t want to die at the hospital. (I want to be) with my children before dying. (I want to) stand and bow down to God and bow down to True Parents. Heavenly Parent, this is my last moment. Jacob’s life was wonderful at the end.

When we die, we must also think about how we will die. I think that we need to pray so that we can die worshiping and bowing to God and True Parents.

1. Joseph always practiced goodness for others in prison, but came out of prison after 10 years, met the Pharaoh, interpreted his dreams properly, took on all the responsibilities of Egypt, and became the prime minister. ​

2. Joseph managed the seven years of plenty and seven years of famine to save Egypt and his family. And he reunited with his brothers and his father, Jacob, and wept loudly.​

3. Jacob entered Egypt, blessed all his twelve sons, and blessed Ephraim and Manasseh, the sons of Joseph, and died in Joseph's bosom. And he eventually returned to the arms of his ancestors. ​

4. As I watch Joseph, who was bitter and sad, face a prosperous day by winning victory, I think that True Parents' course and our course of faith should also end like that. ​

Joseph’s ending was what? He became prosperous Joseph.

The end of our life of faith should be like that. It should be prosperous. Right?

We can learn so many things from Joseph.♦
