Key Points

  • The first purpose of life is to perfect our individuality, to become a true filial son or daughter.

  • The second purpose of life is to achieve the ideal family by completing the four great realms of heart through true children, true brothers and sisters, true couple, and true parents, and experiencing God's heart and love.

  • The third purpose of life is to make this world a more convenient and affluent world of welfare, and eventually to establish heaven on earth. We must love the natural environment that God created.

  • The spiritual world and the Kingdom of Heaven require a true self, a true couple, true siblings and true parents.

  • If humans had not fallen, God would praise and boast of humans, and humans would praise and boast of God and offer hymns to Him.

  • Because of the fall, we must first liberate God’s Han and comfort Him before praising and boasting about Him. Liberating and consoling his han is our first mission.

  • Through teaching the Divine Principle, let Christian ministers and people understand the reality of God’s sorrowful heart.

  • You will find joy in everything you do with sincerity.

  • Original human nature is good in everyone, and we humans have the truth in our original nature. Therefore, we must always be true and faithful to ourselves – just as all things grow and are faithful moment by moment while relating with sunlight and air in their given reality without a single moment of emptiness.

  • As a person grows up, the standard of truth grows as the depth and standard of heart gradually expands. The amount and standards of responsibility also change, leading to a greater world of truth.

  • As I realize how I can give joy to others and have experiences, I gain joy.

  • The most important thing in human relationships is to build a sincere human relationship.

  • If anyone invests his or her jeongseong and sincere heart to make others happy, he or she will experience what results the truth brings.

  • Since we know that the results of the truth always bring joy, and that beautiful rewards are sure to follow, the more we practice the truth, the more we are determined, hopeful, and motivated to do better.

  • Those who do everything with sincerity experience joy in work and interpersonal relationships, and because they do not discriminate against people and because they form good relationships, they achieve true results.

  • Sincerity is being faithful in my heart, regardless of who sees or not.

  • When you practice this sincere life everywhere all the time, you will experience joy and feel gratitude.

  • If Father had had more time and had taken care of his own children one by one the way he took care of senior blessed couples one by one in the early church, I think all of (his children) would have become very faithful and true sons and daughters.

  • If you live for others with a sincere heart, you will experience what the truth is and gain strength.

(Response to sharing) Every Thursday evening I am really grateful to share with all the Japanese members. Wow! They are really dedicating (themselves) so much. Let’s really pray for the Japan providence.♦

Today is a very beautiful morning, isn’t it?

Today I’d like to talk about “Women Will Play a Leading Role in  the Ideal World” from True Mother’s Anthology, Book 2.

<This speech was given at Women's Federation for World Peace rallies held between June 10 and June 30, 1992 in 40 cities, counties and districts throughout Korea> According to the Book of Genesis, after God created heaven and earth, He created the ancestors of humanity, Adam the man and Eve the woman. God gave them the three great blessings and simultaneously their own portion of responsibility. These blessings were “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over every living thing in the sea, on the earth, and in the air.” And at the same time, God gave the man and the woman their responsibility, telling them not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. This teaches us what God's purpose was in creating human beings and the universe, and at the same time it reveals the fundamentals of life. The blessing that they be fruitful means that all human beings are to develop their character and perfect their ability to love.

The second blessing of multiplying life means the mature man and the mature woman should form a relationship of husband and wife, and have children and raise them, thus walking the path of parents. It is God's purpose of creation for the husband and the wife, leading the family and fulfilling the duties of father and mother, to make this world into the blessed land of comfort and riches, thereby establishing the kingdom of heaven on earth. This purpose of creation could have been attained only if our ancestors had upheld God's commandment not to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. However, Adam and Eve broke this commandment of God. This happened before they had completed their growth, while they were still in their adolescence. Our first ancestors fell because of Satan, thus causing all humanity to inherit a lineage of evil.

Because many people do not know the purpose of God's creation, there are many people who live without knowing the purpose of their life.

The first purpose of life is that every human being should perfect their individuality. Completion of individuality means, in a word, to become a true person. Therefore, we must not forget that our first goal in life is to become a true self, true person, no matter what kind of work we do or what kind of job we have. A true person means becoming a true filial son and filial daughter

When I was at the Korean UTS, Rev. Yohan Lee's main teaching was to become a true person. I believe these words have become the goal of my life. Rev. Yohan Lee said that the goal of your life is not to become a great pastor, a great politician or businessman, or a great artist. He taught that the ultimate goal of the spirit world is to become a true person no matter what you do.

Because of this guidance, I never struggled about what kind of person I should become. Do I have to be a good businessman or a pastor? (Do I have to) preach very well? These are all external things. I always reflect about myself. I need to be a true self, a true person. I need to be a filial son. That is our ultimate goal. (My) external job is just helping me. Internally, how can I become God’s son more. That is the issue.

The second purpose of life is to complete the family. To put it concretely, family completion means to achieve the ideal family by completing the four great realms of heart through true children, true brothers and sisters, true couple, and true parents, and experiencing God's heart and love. When we go to the spirit world, the ultimate goal of human beings is to establish a true family on the basis of becoming a true person. If you know this, you will know that all human beings must get married, form a married couple, have children, and establish a family of love.

The third purpose of life is to make this world a more convenient and affluent world of welfare, and eventually to establish heaven on earth. To achieve these three great blessings of God, we must love the natural environment that God created.

We have a life of faith, so the thing we should always reflect on is, am I really a true man or not? Am I a true child or not? Am I a true brother or sister or not? Is our couple really a true couple or not? Am I really a true husband or not? Am I really a true wife or not? Are we really True Parents or not? Am I really a true father or not? Am I really a true mother or not? These are the goals of our eternal life. We must not forget at all that others are tools for building true individuals and true families.

This is our fundamental goal.

Your political position, your (being) a great businessman or artist, someday (these) will just go away. The spiritual world does not care about (your) external job. Okay, through that kind of external skill and job and work, how much can you become a true man, a true brother or sister, a true husband and wife? That is the issue. That’s why the spiritual world and the Kingdom of Heaven requires a true self, a true couple, true siblings, true parents. This is our fundamental goal. Whatever we do, do not forget this point.

Our life and vision according to the divine principle are by no means vague. Even though we know the principle, we all set our goals on external things, so we wander and get lost. We must be clear that outwardly living well and eating well is not our ultimate goal.

The ultimate goal is what? How I can become a true self, how I can establish an ideal family. That is a very important goal.

LIVING DIVINE PRINCIPLE: The Principle of Creation 66 – The Human Heart as Viewed through the Spiritual and Physical Minds

• The relationship between the spirit mind and the physical mind is like that between internal nature and external form. When they become one through give and take action with God as their center, they form a united functioning entity which guides the spirit self and physical self to become harmonious and progress toward the purpose of creation. This united entity is the mind of a human being.

• The conscience is that faculty of the human mind which, by virtue of its inborn nature, always directs us toward what we think is good.

• However, as the standard of goodness in fallen human beings varies, the standard of their conscience also fluctuates; this causes frequent contention even among those who advocate a conscientious life.

• The original mind is that faculty of the human mind which pursues absolute goodness. The original mind relates to the conscience as internal nature to external form.

• A person's conscience directs him to pursue goodness according to the standard he has set up in ignorance, even though it may differ from the original standard. However, the original mind repels this faulty standard and works to correct the conscience.

• As long as our spirit mind and physical mind are under the bondage of Satan, the functioning entity they form through their give and take action is called the evil mind. The evil mind continually drives people to do evil.

• Our original mind and conscience direct us to repel the evil mind. They guide us in desperate efforts to reject evil desires and cling to goodness by breaking our ties with Satan and turning to face God.

Let’s study Father’s word.

Our Pride and God’s Pride

<4-298> So what causes these upheavals and movements of the proud heart? It is the desire of the original mind that wishes to hold its head up high. If we had fulfilled God’s ideal of uniting with Him, we would have been able to cultivate an original connection in which our pride would have become God’s pride, and God’s pride  our pride. This is why, even though we are fallen individuals, we still move in this direction, and struggle to find the central value of the whole universe.

Follow the Natural Heart and Seek the Rational Custom

<4-298> However, we must understand that due to the Human Fall, the pride that moved our hearts was unable to be established as a rational law. Instead, it has been established as just the opposite of that. We need to become people who can follow our natural hearts and seek the rational custom, but because of the Fall, we lost that and are moving in the opposite direction.

Humans have a natural desire to brag. If humans had not fallen, God would praise and boast of humans, and humans would praise and boast of God and offer hymns to Him.

If God and man had achieved the ideal of oneness, we would have had the original relationship that our pride would be God's pride, and God's pride would be our pride.

We were supposed to be human beings who pursued the law of morality according to our original heart, original mind, but because of the Fall, we lost that and are moving in the opposite direction.

In order to directly face our original heart, we must first liberate God’s Han and comfort Him before praising and boasting about Him

That is why we need to understand (that) originally we really needed to be proud of God and praise him. Also, we needed to boast about our own self because we are children of God. But because of the fall, what should we first focus on? On how to liberate God’s han, and on how we can really console God’s han because he (has) suffered so much and (has) worked so hard to restore human beings. We need to understand God’s sorrowful heart, God’s reality.

Recently one Christian minister testified he had learned our Exposition of the Divine Principle through one-on-one education. He was so surprised. After hearing the Divine Principle, wow! “God is a God of sorrow?” He was shocked. He was really surprised. (He had) never heard about that. (He) came to understand that God is a God of sorrow.

Of course, humans have a natural desire to brag (about God). We are really proud of God. We try to be proud of God and to pray to him. But if we really know God’s reality, we understand that God is a God of sorrow.

What is our first mission? How to liberate and console God and help him to get out of Satan’s realm. That’s why we need to do our job very well.

The Divine Principle is very powerful. Through teaching the Divine Principle, let Christian ministers and people understand the reality of God’s heart.

TODAY’S YOUTH MINISTRY: You Will Find Joy in Everything You Do with Sincerity

Why We Become False

1. Original human nature is good and not false, but there are many cases where it is impossible to lead a good life. When we ask ourselves why we are false and why we cannot be good even though we have the standard of truth (the standard of being true or the standard of being a true person) in our original nature, it is because we have the standard of truth, but we cannot live with a true heart. There is a cause. From a principled viewpoint, it means that even though we have original nature, we are using that nature as fallen nature. We make ourselves false because although we have a standard of truth, we use that standard centered on fallen nature. So today, let's study about “owning and living the standard of truth.”

When we use our natural original nature centered on God, it becomes original nature of creation, and when we use it centered on Satan, it becomes fallen nature. So, centered on whom am I going to use my original nature?

That is our portion of responsibility.

Original human nature is good in everyone, but we cannot maintain a good life because we use it centered on ourselves. On the other hand, if we use our original nature centered on others and God, we can always be the center of good.

Even though we humans have the truth in our original nature, we cannot maintain it because our life itself is more false than true. We fallen men are not sincere. Therefore, we must always be true and faithful to ourselves

Watch how all things grow. If you look at living creatures, they are faithful moment by moment while relating with sunlight and air in their given reality without a single moment of emptiness. Nothing brings sudden leaps of growth.

If you do your best for each moment, you will pass through spring and summer and bear beautiful fruits in autumn. It should be noted that there is absolutely no leap in the growth of a living organism.

Therefore, we too must live day by day and moment by moment truthfully, sincerely without gaps. Don’t have useless fantasies. If you spend your day well, a beautiful tomorrow is surely waiting for you.

As a Person Grows up, the Standard of Truth Becomes More Different

2. As a person grows, the standard of truth gradually changes. This is because the living environment changes as they grow up in their teens and 20s. When you are young, you taste the standard of truth through your relationship with your parents, and as you grow and experience more, you will experience your own standard of truth. Then, when you get married, you will realize what the standard of truth is centering on the couple, and when you have children, you will discover the standard of truth in your relationship with your children. In other words, it can be seen that the responsibility given to oneself changes as the person grows up and the responsibility of the standard of truth changes. After all, truth is found through relationships. It is found in interpersonal relationships such as with parents or teachers. Through the joy that arises from human relationships, we realize and experience what the standard of truth is.

As a person grows up, the standard of truth gradually changes. Humanity’s standard of truth grows as the depth and standard of heart gradually expand through the age of children, the age of brothers and sisters, the age of married couples, and the age of parents.

Through a lot of experience and growth, the amount and standards of responsibility also change, leading to a greater world of truth. Ultimately, the true world is found through human relationships. It is found through interpersonal relationships, such as relationships with parents, siblings, spouses, or teachers.

So, what is the truth in human relationships? How can I become true? As I realize how I can give joy to others and have experiences, I gain joy

Therefore, the most important thing in human relationships is to build a sincere human relationship. If you lack the truth and sincerity in a relationship, you become false from that point on, and your life becomes meaningless.

You Will Find Joy in Everything You Do with Sincerity

3. When we make our parents happy or when we are praised by them, we are determined to do well for them. Like this, when we experience the standard of truth, we make a bigger determination. When we experience the standard of truth in this way, we first become determined, and after we become determined, we develop motivation, and then the power of hope. I experience joy when I have done my best in a small thing, and when I have treated it with sincerity and not as something small. This experience will make you more motivated to work. If you experience joy, do not discriminate against people, and develop good relationships with others as you grow up, you will reap true fruits. However, we usually can't.

If anyone invests his or her jeongseong and sincere heart to make others happy, he or she will experience what results the truth brings. Since we know that the results of the truth, which are sincerity, always bring joy finally, and that beautiful rewards are sure to follow, the more we practice the truth – which is sincerity – the more we are determined, hopeful, and motivated to do better

Although it is a very small thing, when you treat it with sincerity and not lightly, you experience great joy from it. Through this experience, you will be motivated to work even more. The reason why we don't have the motivation and hope for what we do is because, rather than investing all our heart into what we do, we are formal, habitual, and do assigned tasks just like a machine with a sense of duty.

That is our problem.

On the other hand, those who do everything with sincerity experience joy in work and interpersonal relationships, and because they do not discriminate against people and form good relationships, they achieve true results.

The Meaning of “Love Your Neighbor as Yourself”

4. When Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” he means to treat your body sincerely. When my body is cold, hot, or hungry, I know how to dress, eat, and drink. Therefore, the message here is to love your neighbor as much as you are sincere toward your body. We discover the power of the heart when we are sincere in all things and find joy. When my heart is sincere and faithful, I feel joy and gratitude regardless of who sees or not. Also, if you live for others with such a sincere heart, you will experience what is the standard of truth and gain strength.

When Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” he meant to treat others sincerely just like you love, treasure, and treat your body in the best way.

However, fallen human beings discriminate according to circumstances and people. They do not treat their own body and their neighbors the same. They do not treat other people's children the same as their own and discriminate against them. This is not what a true person looks like.

I am not a true person yet. Can I really treat other children the same as (I treat) my own son or daughter? Really the same or not? That is the problem. Can I treat my neighbor the same way (as I treat) my body? ... Discriminating against them is the issue.

That’s why we are not (our) true self. Heavenly God loves each item of all things. He loves each human being. It does not matter if you are a politician, a businessman, a great man or a disabled child. He loves all of them equally. How can we resemble that heart of God? Even though we say (we) love our neighbor and our nation, we always love our own things more than other things. That is why our standard is still far away.

Human beings discriminate according to circumstances and people. Even though we often say we are living for the sake of others, for our neighbor, surely we live for our own sake more than for other people. We always discriminate according to circumstances and people. We easily judge (others) and put our own self first – even though we say (we are) living for the sake of others.  But according to the standard of the Divine Principle we are still far away. Because of that, we cannot grow up properly. That is the issue.

Sincerity is being faithful and sincere in my heart, regardless of who sees or not. When you practice this sincere life anywhere, you will experience joy and feel gratitude

I really admire Father. He loved the world and all humankind, the blessed families more than his own children. That is a true standard. If Father had had enough time and had taken care of his own children, I think none of his children would have had problems.

True Father and True Mother dedicated everything 100% because they know the standard of God. That’s why they loved the world more than their own children. They loved blessed families more than their own children. Wow!

Of course, there were some issue here and there, but True Father needed to show that standard. If Father had had more time and had taken care of his own children one by one the way he took care of senior blessed couples one by one in the early church, I think all of (his children) would have become very faithful and true sons and daughters. We really need to understand this.

However, we cannot be like True Father and True Mother; we need to have balance. We need to raise our children very well; at the same time, we need to truly live for the sake of others. If we do not show the model as a family -- True Parents need to show that kind of model and needed to love the world – in our case we need to know that we need to create very good balance. True Parents showed that model, but we already inherited and learned from True Parents.

When I go back home – of course, I love my children – (but) I always reflect: am I loving my members like this? I have that kind of heart. I always reflect about myself.

Also, if you live for others with such a sincere heart, you will experience what the truth is and gain strength

Today's message was “You Will Find Joy in Everything You Do with Sincerity.”

Since I am well aware of the importance of sincerity, I try to be sincere by doing my best in everything I do. This is not simple. I try to do my best while preparing for Morning Devotion. I invest all my heart. When I eat, I eat food with a grateful heart. And when I meet people, I do my best to convey God's heart and love.

Every morning – maybe this is a little strange – I pray, “Heavenly Father, I would like to invite you when I convey God’s blessing in Morning Devotion.” Also, I pray, “Heavenly Father, when I have breakfast, lunch and dinner, I don’t want to eat out of duty. I really want to appreciate (the meal). Let me appreciate the food and who prepared the food. Let me have a grateful heart.”

Even though we try, it is not easy to have that kind of sincerity every moment.

Again, we do not know how important sincerity is in our lives. If I am not sincere in everything, I become a lie, – I am a false person, not a true person –  and when I pass by, I always feel that my heart is empty.

So, whatever you do, pour out your heart and sincerity. Then you will be motivated and hopeful no matter what you do, and it will grow and develop every day because God is a God of sincerity and heart.
