Key Points

  • We are born on earth to experience and practice true love by experiencing the Four Great Realms of Heart so that we can completely resemble God.

  • Then we go to the spirit world and become eternal, absolute, unchanging object partners of love to God.

  • When we have attained true love on earth, we enter the Kingdom of Heaven, the world of infinite true love where we are not restricted by time and space and enjoy happiness and love fully.

  • If when we die, we have not yet completed the fruit of true love, we need to return to earth to mature our spirit self.

  • We cultivate the fruit of true love on earth in order to enjoy “cosmic love” without restrictions in the “new world.”

  • God gave us freedom in order to fulfill the Principle of Creation with joy, gratitude, love, and a voluntary heart.

  • Free actions generated by free will always bring about only good results.

  • Self-indulgence, not freedom, can cause the fall.

  • To protect her freedom Eve should have reported to God, sought his guidance and submitted to his dominion.

  • With our original mind plus God’s word, we can overcome everything.

  • When we live centering on God’s word, we can enjoy the freedom of our original nature.

  • In order to overcome the power of unprincipled love, we must always be stimulated by God’s Word centered on the original mind and experience God’s love.

  • Our freedom is limited by the four great temptations of the flesh.

  • In order to dominate our body and find the freedom of the original mind, we must repent, submit to Abel and live by the word.

  • The best and safest way for our faith to grow is serving all people as our Abel.

  • Serving all people as Abel is the secret to successfully establishing the foundation of substance.

  • Abel is the one who receives more love from his parents.

  • The challenge for the elder sibling is to receive the love of his parents through the younger sibling.

  • We should bring new people with us to church as the Abel of our heart.

  • Anyone who is focused on witnessing can revive his own spirit.

I had a breakfast meeting with two families of the New Jersey church. This couple is Jonathan & Eri Combs and their children are Andrew, Jiwon, Kawon (twins), and Matthew. They are a model second generation couple. I was so happy to see the children. Really beautiful. Eri and Jonathan are raising their children so well.

Another family is Yoshinori Togo and his son’s name is Akitaka Togo. They came to America and are visiting New Jersey. It was a very beautiful time.

Today I’d like to talk about “The Path of Life for All Humankind” from True Mother’s Anthology, Volume 2.

<This speech was given by Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon between February 11 and May 29, 1999 at events promoting the Global Expansion of True Families in Japan, the United States and around the world.>

During our life, we receive the love of our parents, share love with our husband or wife, and give love to our children, bringing to fruition all the seeds of God's love sown in the internal world of love. Eventually, we harvest this fruit and go into the next world. When we become completely one in love, we come to resemble God. If a husband and wife work together to complete the three stages of love and then go to the spirit world, they will exist as creators in a reciprocal relationship with God, who is the eternal subject partner. That is what happens when a husband and wife die centering on love. We begin and end in God.

The reason people have to die is that our love is limited as long as we are in our physical body. The physical body is inadequate for developing fully as an object partner to God's unlimited love. That is why we move on to our next life as an unfettered intangible spirit. We die so that we can become one with the ideal of love, together with all of heaven and earth. Death is not a path to suffering. It is a time when the gate of happiness is thrown open, enabling us to possess cosmic love. To die means to move from a world of land, where we crawl and walk, to a world where we fly freely. We pass through death in order to become qualified travelers who, with love, can enjoy the entire universe. That is why death is, in reality, a new birth.

God is the subject partner of true love. Since the time we human beings are in the physical world is a time to experience and practice true love, we can completely resemble God. However, the best way to resemble God’s true love is none other than experiencing the four great realms of heart in the family.

As children, we grow, receiving abundant love from our parents; we affectionately share love with brothers and sisters who were born from our parents’ love; and next, we realize the couple and exchange love physically and spiritually, and lastly, we complete the love of true parents by raising children.

In this way, when we experience the four great realms of heart in the family, we come to resemble God completely. When we go to the spirit world after experiencing the four great realms of heart, we become eternal, absolute, unchanging object partners of love to God.

The reason people have to die is that we are very restricted by time and space as long as we are in our physical body. Therefore, if we bear fruit through love and then enter the spirit world, we will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, the world of infinite true love where we are not restricted by time and space and enjoy happiness and love to the fullest.

Human beings need to know that the spirit world is the place where our spirit selves are originally supposed to go with achievements of fully mature fruits. However, if we die in a state of not having been able to bear fully mature fruit, we must come back to earth again and wait until our spirit self is matured.

In fact, we will come to realize that death is not a path to suffering. It is a time when the gate of happiness is thrown open, enabling us to possess cosmic love. To die means to move from a world of land, where we crawl and walk, to a world where we fly freely.

Therefore, the death of people is not simply disappearing by death but it is, in reality, a new birth. Just as a baby is born from its mother’s womb, death is being born again into the eternal world.

In one way, we can say that people were born to eventually die with achievements of true love. In other words, people are beings that live to reap complete fruit in the physical world and then go to a new world.

Are we ready to go to the spiritual world without any regret? Is there still something? “I am not yet ready to go to the spiritual world.” What do you think?

Father said if our spirit becomes really mature we don’t need to worry about that. Happily we are ready to go to the spiritual world. Someone may say, “I don’t want to go to the spiritual world.” That means our spirit  is not yet ready. Our heart knows very well. If we are getting older and we have become really mature fruit, then we don’t mind going to the spiritual world. That means we are already mature fruit. We know that. There is no need to be afraid of death. We just need to focus more on how we can complete our spirit on earth.

LIVING DIVINE PRINCIPLE: The Human Fall 28: Freedom, the Fall and Restoration

One of the blessings God gave to human beings is freedom. The purpose for which God gave human beings freedom was to eventually fulfill the principle of creation joyfully and spontaneously.

In other words, we need to know freedom is the thing that human beings were given in order to fulfill our portion of responsibility with joy, gratitude, love, and a voluntary heart.

• To summarize, freedom cannot exist outside the Principle. Freedom is accompanied by the responsibility laid out in the Principle, and Freedom pursues accomplishments that bring joy to God.

• Free actions generated by free will bring about only good results.

• Therefore, freedom cannot have caused the human Fall.

Free actions generated by free will always bring about only good results. If we fell even though we have freedom, it would be self-indulgence.

If we do not bring good results, we do not know how to use freedom.

• Rather, the human Fall was caused by the stronger power of unprincipled love, which overwhelmed the freedom of the original mind.

• In truth, human beings lost their freedom as a result of the Fall.

When human beings fell, they lose their freedom. Humans who have lost their freedom due to sin always live as sinners and cannot escape from anxiety, worry, and fear.

• When Eve was tempted by the angel, she became confused emotionally and intellectually. Although the freedom of her original mind induced in her a sense of foreboding, because the power of the love between her and the angel was stronger, she crossed the boundary and fell.

In order to protect the freedom arising from her original mind, she has to ask God, report to Him and live in His domination.

We have to overcome everything by (the combined power of) our original mind and God’s word.

Without stimulating our original mind with God’s word, we cannot overcome this. We need to study God’s word to gain the strength and power to overcome any temptation.

• Conversely, since fallen people can also relate with God in freedom, if they follow the words of truth, form a common base and engage in give and take with Him, then the power of principled love can revive their original nature.

Since fallen people can also relate with God in freedom, if they follow the words of truth, form a common base and engage in give and  take with Him, then the power of principled love can revive their original nature.

When we live centering on God’s word, we can enjoy the freedom of the original nature in His word.

The Fall of Adam and Eve was Caused Because the Freedom was Confined

1. The Fall of Adam and Eve was caused because their freedom was confined. Human beings cannot use their power because the will of the Principle, responsibility and accomplishment were confined. What kind of power could confine Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden? It was the power of the unprincipled love.

2. Today, freedom of fallen people is confined in many ways. Freedom of some people is confined by money. Social workers in government service in Korea were tempted by money and broke the national law. Then their life became miserable, it was reported

3. Some people were threatened with fists and lost their freedom. Some people live their lives without freedom as if they would be beaten or killed by somebody. Some people flounder in the swamp of the evil world where they are seized by worry and fear while their freedom has been confined since they were tempted to (commit) illicit love like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

4. Many people in the world live their lives in the net of the entangled evil world like wire mesh and lose their freedom, coveting, complaining, grieving, and cursing. After all, human beings lost their freedom by the Fall.

Since the power of unprincipled love is always stronger than the power of freedom, in order to overcome that, we must always be stimulated by God’s Word centered on the original mind and experience God’s love.

When is the freedom of fallen people confined? Freedom is confined by the 4 great temptations centered on the flesh. Freedom is confined due to money, freedom is confined due to one’s honor, and freedom is confined due to sexual desires.

Therefore, to find the freedom of the original mind, we must repent and return as a fallen person. And we must always accept Abel’s dominion and live according to the Word.

God’s word is important to dominate our body. Without dominating our body, how can we enjoy freedom?

TODAY’S YOUTH MINISTRY: Serve All People as Your Abel

1. For our faith to grow, we must serve all people as our Abel. We must always set ourselves in the position of Cain. Even if you are in the Abel position, you must think of yourself as Cain in order to grow. Even if the other person is your junior, you need to set them as Abel and have a heart to always learn. In the world of love, when everyone thinks of themselves as Cain and the other person as Abel, that center is firm.  That is why the Bible teaches us to always be meek and humble. But when you assert, “I am your senior” or “I am your Abel,” that is not being humble.

The true Cain and Abel are not different from each other because their attitudes toward the will are both humble.  That is why everyone should live with the attitude of Cain. That is the way to establish the foundation of substance. We must all restore in our own families the archangel’s failure to love Adam and Eve from God’s standpoint. Also, what the archangel failed to do by setting up Adam and Eve as mediators must be practiced in our families and in our own environment.

In our life of faith, we often make mistakes if we have wrong values about Cain and Abel. Of course, in principle, the order of Cain and Abel is clear.

However, if the Cain and Abel relationship is emphasized too externally and Cain is forced to follow Abel unconditionally, the order of love will be broken.

Therefore, the best and safest way for our faith to grow is serving all people as our Abel. We must always set ourself in the position of Cain rather than Abel. Even if we are in the Abel position, we must think of ourself as Cain in order to grow.

In the world of love, when everyone thinks of themselves as Cain and the other person as Abel, that center is firm. In our life of faith, the path of thinking of all humankind as our Abel is the safest way and the secret to not being accused by Satan.

That is why the Bible teaches us to always be meek and humble. But when we assert, “I am your senior” or “I am your Abel,” “You need to follow me. I am your Abel. I am the continental director. I am the sub-regional leader. You need to follow me.” If we only push and emphasize our own position, people will not follow us. That is not being humble.

The attitude of a true Cain and Abel in walking the way of the Will is being humble towards each other, giving to each other, and serving each other as Abel.

The path of serving all people as Abel is the secret to successfully establish the foundation of substance. We must all restore in our own families the archangel’s failure to love Adam and Eve from God’s standpoint.

Cain Must Set His Younger Brother Abel as the Mediator

2. The archangel should have set Adam and Eve as his mediators, and in Adam’s family, Cain, the elder brother, should have set his younger brother, Abel, as his mediator. This is something we must restore in our own families. Therefore, the elder brother, Cain, had to come under Abel’s dominion and obey him. Cain also had to support Abel in his will and love his younger brother on behalf of their parents. This is how to remove fallen nature and mature one’s heart. The elder brother should make the younger brother the mediator and be filial to their parents.

Why is that? Among siblings, who is Cain and who is Abel? The one who receives more love from the parents is Abel. Even when you look at families, there are many cases where parents love the younger sibling more. Isn’t this strange? If you look at any family, the parents love the second born more than the first born, the third born more than the second born, and the youngest more than the third born. In this sense, by setting the younger brother as his mediator, the elder brother must receive their parents’ love, learn their parents’ will, and multiply it.

The archangel should have set Adam and Eve as his mediators, but the Fall was his failure to do so. In order to restore this, in Adam’s family, Cain, the elder brother, should have set his younger brother, Abel, as his mediator.

We must restore in our own families Cain and Abel’s failures in Adam’s family, and we must practice it in our church and workplace.

In the family, Cain, the elder brother, should live with the attitude of receiving his parents’ love through his younger brother Abel. The elder brother must think of receiving his parents’ love by setting his younger brother as the mediator.

However, in today’s reality, since people do not know this kind of principle, the elder brother tries to unconditionally dominate his younger brother. When the younger brother receives more love from their parents, envy and jealousy come out first.

That is why we need to clearly teach our children about the Principle view on Cain and Abel. But it is really difficult for fallen people to put this into practice. Even if we know the principle, practicing it is very difficult.

In the family, if the elder brother has the attitude of receiving love from his parents through the younger brother, that is the way to remove his fallen nature and mature his heart. Therefore, the elder brother should make the younger brother the mediator and (they should) be filial to their parents.

From a heartistic perspective, among siblings, who is Cain and who is Abel? The one who receives more love from the parents is Abel. Maybe parents who have raised children experienced this a lot, but even when we look at families, there are many cases where parents love the younger sibling more.

That doesn’t mean that everyone is like that. If the parents love the younger sibling more than me, the elder sibling, I should think of receiving my parents’ love through my younger sibling, who receives love from our parents. This is not easy at all. But what should we do when this is the way of the Principle?

The conclusion is that the easiest way is to go beyond the relationship between elder brother and younger brother and serve everyone as our Abel.

How to Receive Love from Parents

3. The elder brother must always obey and submit to the younger brother, realizing what their parents meant through the children. However, if the person in the elder brother position ignores and upsets the younger brother, that elder brother’s relationship with the parents becomes bad. This is because ignoring the younger brother is the same as ignoring the parents.

When we go to church centering on this principle, what must we do to receive love from God and True Parents?  You must bring people to church who formed a bond with the Will through you and long for you.  When we come to church, we should bring a sacrifice of love. We cannot just come empty-handed. And you must think of that sacrifice of love as the Abel of your heart. You should think that you are going out before God through that sacrifice of love. In order for those who joined the church first to always be resurrected and grow, they must live a life of supporting the new members as a sacrifice of love.

If the parents’ love goes to the younger brother more than the elder brother, the elder brother must always obediently submit to the younger brother, realizing what their parents meant through the children. However, if the person in the elder brother position ignores and upsets the younger brother, that elder brother’s relationship with the parents becomes bad.

In the family, ignoring the younger brother results in the same thing as ignoring the parents. Therefore, when the elder brother deals with the younger brother, he must deal with him with the heart of a parent on behalf of their parents.

As the elder brother we need to love the younger brother on behalf of his parents. The elder brother position is the position of the parents. In the parents’ position we need to love our younger brothers and sisters. Then they will respect and follow us. Parents always give first. So as the elder brother we should always be giving and taking care of younger brothers and sisters. Then they will always follow us.

Centering on this principle, the person who joined the church first should have the attitude of thinking of himself as Cain and serving new members, who are like younger siblings, as Abel.

Father said second generation is Abel centering on blood lineage. The second generation is Abel. Our children are Abel more than the first generation.

But fallen men (think), “You are my child, my son.” They try to control and dominate. But God’s point of view is different. In terms of the blood lineage second generation and third generation are closer to God. That is why as the father and mother we need to serve our children, not as our children. Otherwise, we will make mistakes.

Also, we (who) joined the church – ten, 20 or 30 years ago – we need to think we are in the position of Cain. Those who have newly joined are in the position of Abel. “As Cain, I need to serve them. I need to welcome them, because I was born first.” Anyone who comes now, we need to serve them and love them.

But in our church in Korea everywhere, “Oh, I am (your) senior. I joined the church a long time ago. You need to serve me and recognize me.” For an older brother to have this kind of mindset is a really big problem. The first shall be last, and the last shall be first.

How can we become the first one all the time? When we truly serve young people and anyone who has recently joined our church, accept them as our Abel position, love them, (and) take care of them. Then they will respect us, and we can keep the first position. The first should be the first one continuously, right? How? When we truly serve younger brothers and sisters and those who have recently joined the church.  Then they will really admire us and respect us.

So, when we go to church, what must we do to receive love from God and True Parents? We must bring people to church who form a bond with the Will through us and long for us. When we come to church, we should bring a sacrifice of love. We cannot just come empty-handed.

How can we receive love from God? We need to multiply. We need to bring new people. Then how inspired God will be. Just to attend Sunday service and then go back home makes no sense. Whenever we come to church and multiply, this is how we can create happiness for God. We should not come empty handed.

And we must think of that sacrifice of love as the Abel of our heart. We should think that we are going out before God through that sacrifice of love.

Anyone who is focused on witnessing can revive his spirit. Salvation will make you very happy and inspire God so much! What is his greatest happiness? When his children come back to his bosom from the position of the prodigal son. Who will bring them? If we are the one who can bring new people to church, introduce God, let them know who God and True Parents are, that is the greatest happiness for God and our True Parents.

Today I talked about “Serve All People As Your Abel.”

That is the safest and most stable way. We should not distinguish so much who is Cain and who is Abel. We need to treat everybody as our Abel. Then God can bless us.

(Testimony Yejin Ang, CARP Workshop)♦

(Response to sharing) Thank you for your incredible prayer for Mother. She left yesterday to return to Korea.

She invited not just American major leaders but some key leaders from Japan. She had a beautiful time. (And) she gave very clear direction to the Japanese church. She was very happy. I could see that she had a happy face, not so tense. I hope that she can come more often and relax. She went back to Korea very happily.

The day before yesterday, Thursday, I already shared True Mother’s word. When I went to Hawaii, Bishop Kim, I, Dr. Walsh, Tom McDevit, Naokimi and Rev. Jenkins, True Mother delivered very important words. I already delivered it to all the Japanese members. Now we are translating, so maybe I can share them tomorrow or the day after tomorrow what True Mother’s word is. Some points are very important. I would like to share them with you very soon.♦
